Planning on visiting India for 15 nights in march next year.Have not contacted travel agents and I am attempting to put together my own itinerary-please see the following and comment on whether this is a good doable itinerary for a first time visitor.

1.Arrive Dehli late evening--sleep Imperial hotel.
2Day 2 tour dehli sights---arrange tour through hotel.stay Imperial.
3.Day 3--go to Agra see Taj Mahal and deserted city near Agra---not sure how to get to Agra--train or car.Not sure if I should stay in Agra or return to Dehli.Hotel either Imperial or Taj view hotel.
4.Day 4--early flight to jaipur--see jaipur sights.stay at Rambargh Palace hotel.
5.Day5--same as above.
6.Drive to Rathambore reserve and stay three nights at new oberoi--not sure on how to arrange driver.
9.Ninth day leave ranthambore drive to Jaipur take evening flight to Jodhpur-arrive 7.00pm stay umaid palace.
10.Tour Jodhpur---same hotel.
11.Drive early to jaislimar--stay two nights at fort hotel. Not sure how to drive there but will figure it our
13.Drive back to Jodhpur--evening flight to Udaipur.stay at oberoi
14.Tour Udaiper---stay same hotel.
15.Afternoon flight to Dehli stay imperial.
My wife and I love history and wildlife. We tried to eliminate too much driving by adding four flights. We have not arranged anything but international flight so far.The luxuory hotels and flights for this itinerary price out to half what the tour operators charge--but we have no guides or driver. It is my understanding a driver in an air conditioned car runs about 40 dollars a day.
My main questions are;
1.Is this a good first visit to India itinerary.
2.Is the itinerary laid out in the right order.
3.Stay in Agra and on to Jaipur some how or day trip and back to Dehli.
4Am I missing any must sees and should I eliminate anything.
5.Whats the wildlife viewing like at Rathambore --should I go to corbet instead and stay at infinity resorts.
Are these good choices for the best hotels available.
Please forgive my spelling. looking forward to answers and comments to my many questions.
Thanks to all in advance.

Hi Wolverhampton
Welcome to IM, second only to being there,
I'm bumping this back up with a first suggestion.

No need to backtrack, After Delhi-Agra, carry on to Rathambore, from there go Jaipur- Jaisalmer- Jodhpur-Udaipur & flight back to Delhi.
Consider a car driver, at the hotels you're planning on staying at it could be easily arranged. Most of these destinations are only 4-6 hrs apart, is it worth getting a plane? with the drive to the airport, check-in time etc, you could be half way there by car, picked up at your hotel door, & seeing some amazing & unexpected sights along the way,,,,,,,,,,,
Check out this site via the search box, theres plenty of information about travelling in Rajasthan,,,,,,,,,,

Happy Travelling
