I have booked a flight to Delhi on the 28th of January 2010 and a flight out of Trivandrum on the 29th of March. In our 2 months in India we would love to see the following places and travel mainly by train and some buses:
Agra, Rajastan (not sure what the best and for me easiest to get to parts are), Rishikesh, Varanasi, Mumbai, Hampi and spend some time relaxing in Kerala.
If possible I would also LOVE to spend some time in Nepal (Pokhara, Kathmandu and Chitwan National park).
At the moment I'm not sure where to start from Delhi and what the best route is to Kerala that covers (hopefully) all the places we would like to see.
Thanks for any advise in advance!

In the last years we have made two longer journeys.
A quite detailed report of those are in the journal section, I'm still working on the Kochi-Delhi part. Maybe it gives you some ideas.

You can find them following the links in my signature.

Ur arriving in jan, these are the winter months here.
So it is better to start off from rajasthan. Coz once the summer kicks in, rajasthan being a desert, gets utterly hot. And is better avoidable.
My suggested itinerary would be,
Delhi-Rajasthan-Mumbai-South i.e kerela etc- east india i.e kolkata- rishikesh- nepal
that's just a rough one, frame it accordingly.
