Somebody just opened its mouth in shock!!
And said, “Honeymoon?? Near to terrorism...want to put bush on shame??
Or what..?? hmm??.."
"No", I said," it's just to make 'IMites' proud, as i have just joined it and want to prove myself!!"
"She" is ready to do it with me, says" will go with me wherever i say.!!"

I searched all possibilities in IM and the links given in posts to blogs, etc and have tried to
Make some Itinerary...
Please suggest openly making our first trip together an experience of lifetime.!!
As of now we are not interested in grabbing everything which
is there but want to feel the space and want to come out as
if I have spend allot of time there!! And also leave something for the next time...
a glass little empty...I mean...

Here is the itinerary

Day 2 JULY30

DAY 4 AUG 1: Srinagar – pahalgam ( Stay at JKTDC Huts at Pahalgam)(local sight seeing)

Then we will not spend a day earlier in wular??is there any permission
req. for wular??)
DAY 6 AUG3: srinagar -Kangan for Zoji La & Sonamarg – Srinagar (as we will go leh can
we see sonmurg in betweeen and save this day?
DAY 7 AUG3: leave for leh by JKRTC bus. Srinagar –kargil (halt at kargil) {{ I WANT TO BREAK THIS JOURNEY BUT NOT INTERESTED IN GOING BY PRIVATE TAXI.. HOW IS IT POSSIBLE?? CAN WE TAKE THE SAME GOVT. BUS NEXT DAY??}}

Then drive to Panamik, crossing river shyok and then along river Nubra
to Panamik .Overnight camping.

DAY13 AUG 9: leh – locale village (my friend who is a archeological conservator will be there at a local monastery, around five hours on ponney. He will arrange for two days stay away from any connection to the city in that vilaage. I don’t know the village name..)

DAY 24 AUG 20 :thanking all IMites and telling them all about the honeymoon trip, exept few intimate details!

FEW VERY IMPORTANT QUES:
# WANT TO INVOLVE NO AGENTS AT ANY POINT
# WE ARE NOT SEEKING LUXURY AND HAVE A
MODERATE BUDGET OF AROUND 50K-60K.
# WANT TO TRAVEL BY BUSES AS IT IS SAFE
AND WILL GIVE THE LOCAL FLAVOUR
# NO BOOKINGS HAVE BEEN DONE SO FAR AS
I WANT TO GO THERE AND BARGAIN AND FIX IT MYSELF
# SUGGEST ON EACH AND EVERYTHING!!
AS IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN TO MY LIFE…

Delete Pahalgam from your list. It is over-run by pilgrims going to Amarnath in July. You won't find any accomodation with JKTDC.
Spend 2 days in Gulmarg.

sonmarg would be on the way to Leh but if you are going by bus then you have to miss it ofcourse.....see if you can try this...

Srinagar - sonmarg
sonmarg - kargil
kargil leh

if you want you can also save a day by completing leh - hundur - diskit- panamik - leh in 2 days, instead of 3 days right now.

Frankly saying, if I would have been in your place, i would have gone to Zanskar instead of spending so much time in srinagar and surrounding areas. Weather in Srinagar at that time is not best anyways and you can check it out anytime later.

Leh, nubra valleys have become crowded now. Zanskar still a virgin territory, if you compare with leh and nubra.

your Iternary Seems gr8, so does your attitude. Regarding Zanskar i doubt if the same is possible by Bus. the Bus servie b/w Kargil & padam is after 4 days. the same is possible only thru Shared cabs.
Wular is certainly worth, but falls in Bandipore / Sopore area, which is a highly terrorism infested Area, unlike srinagar. Also Minus Pahalgam, Also tulip Garden have already Closed out. Gulmarg i personally feel is wroth a Day, u can Also Plan for Dud Pathri, a virgin toursit Destination in Valley & its Safe. Also Include Sonmarg in Srinagar- Side trips. Try out Manasbal lake, on way to sonmarg. Gud i feel u dont need Reservations. Coz i was in Kargil Last Week, The Room Cist us 650 bucks & the same room Cost 1650/- Under prior Reservation.
Rest on Leh U seems to be Spot on. expect three Days at Pangong Lake. Tso Mori Area is gr8, i have just come fromt there, wud Share pics & other Info u.
Rest good ahead, u seem set to have time of your Life

Dear Nitin,

Leh schedule seems a-ok.

Kashmir suggestions you have already accepted.

Am glad you're not worrying about terrorism... just go ahead good for you...

All the best,
avid

Hi Nitin
your itinery looks okay........ however I feel that you need to increase your budget becaause travelling in Ladakh is a bit costly

Your iteneary is a bit incorrect when it comes to Pangong Lake. You can stay there for a night and every penny is worth it. But not two complete days because Tso moriri needs 2 days seperate. I am not sure why have you kept one day for Tso Moriri.

Once you reach Leh look for a Travel coordinator ( you will find a good one next to Changspa crossing, thats where i got one). Get a shared cab with another couple its alwys easy on pocket (just a suggestion). They will tell you how should you plan the days for your travel.

Nubra Valley........hmmmm you can skip its not worth the effort. For camels you can go to magnificent Jaiselmer.

Since you are not on Leh-Manali highway, i cant help you more

But let me know if you have any other questions! Post it on the thread,,,its easier to answer.

Have a good one pal

then i'm afraid you should cut down the duration of honeymoon.......i don't think you can stretch beyond 15 days on that budget unless you stay in backpacker style hotels and travel by bus in ladakh (and there are no bus service on some of teh routes).......... and man if you do so in your honeymoon you will hear good music thoughout your life

so reduce some days from both J&K as well as Ladakh portion.

first do a budgeting for

1) airfare (no of trips * avg ticket fare)
2) hotel (no of fays * avg rate)
3) bus + jeep rents
4) food etc
