Start from Dalhousi, by getting down at Chakkibank station and cover Dharamsala, Chamba, Khajiar, then move to Kinnaur via Shimla proceed to Spiti then Lahaul and then crossing Barlacha move to Leh/Ladakh (Nubra/Pangong, Tsomoriri) and then either backtrack through Lahaul via Rohtang to Manali to end trip else carry on towards Zanskar, or may be through Jojila Pass via Srinagar come back to Jammu to end the trip.

Ideally you should have atleast 5/6 weeks time to do this but timing this trip is extremely difficult as Lahaul/Leh/Ladakh would be better accessible from July onwards when Western Himachal (Dharamsala/Chamba) would be lashed by monsoon. So quite meticulous planning is needed to make this a success. But it would be great trip, no doubt about that, if you have enough time to spend, that should do justice to these places

Cheers!!

As I said, it's difficult to club both sides of mountains together because of heavy monsoon. One idea is to stat in begin of June from Dalhousi (before monsoon hits there) and then proceed through Kinnaur towards Spiti-Lahaul -Leh, by the time you would explore Leh, it would be atleast end of June and things should be easier there.

Else start in September but in reverse order through Jammu/Srinagar/Leh/Lahaul/Spiti/Shimla/ Chamba/Dalhousi etc. So when you would be reaching western Himachal at last part of your trip monsoon would be receded by then. But this is riskier considering quite erratic weather of September now for 3 consecutive years and also roads post monsoon would be pathetic.

Yes splitting it into two sessions make a lot of sense for sure.
