If tickets on those quotas are not booked then those are made available for general quota users?

That is my understanding ! I was once bitten by a Guvnor and her entourage using the HO quota, thus denying me a berth...

Many tourists from Kolkata will face same problem as the dates coincide with Durga Puja vacation

Convinced my kids about Darjeeling option, they did not react. But, the problem is, I am not convinced yet.

Was going to Japan (Andaman) and reached Chin (Darjeeling)!

Spicejet has started their Kolkata-Port Blair flight service again from 1st September, 2018. SG 263, departs at 9:05 AM

Good morning!

Yes, I got the information. But now, it is not possible to re-plan. Andaman is not in our luck, at least not for this puja!

I am now day-dreaming about our Darjeeling one, because I have no other choice!

Two days to go, before our Puja vacation.

None of the A.C tickets are confirmed...but for both journeys I have collected RAC tickets for all, though in Sleeper class.

The RAC tickets will be confirmed I hope. Only problem is that seat numbers will be random. Best of Luck

We are back from our trip to Lava, Lolegaon, Kalimpong and Darjeeling.
The trip was a mixed experience of good and bad.
Before writing my TR, I would like to share my own feelings regarding the places I have been to which may help some other travellers.

LAVA

1. Lava is a nice place for relaxing. I have travelled with senior citizens and felt this may not be suitable place for aged people. Road is not good. Food available there is mainly egg which they refused to eat every day and other type of foods are not at all available.
2. There is no food available in any of the tourist places, except momo. You have to return to your hotel only.
3. Stay at Lava WBFDC is good for young people. For aged, climbing 60 odd stairs every time to get out of the cottages was really hard.
4. Road to Changey falls does not exist I can say. Many cars refused to go to the place though they have been paid in advance (I met one group who were not taken to the trip).

LOLEGAON

1. Road to Lolegaon via Lava is pathetic. You will not be able to enjoy the surrounding for the road condition.
2. Again, no food option except egg.

KALIMPONG

1. I did not like the city. It is congested, dirty.
2. We liked Delo only.
3. Do not go for full day sightseeing. You will not get any food except momo and magi, that too at very few locations.

DARJEELING

1. This was the only place where we get proper food.
2. Do not book any cars in advance while in Darjeeling. We and other groups were cheated by the car drivers like anything. I would like to elaborate few incidences we faced.
a) The day we reached Darjeeling, driver informed zoo and HMI both are closed today (it was Thursday). I checked internet and it was not true. When I informed him the same, he told there is huge jam on the way to HMI and tried to take us to tea garden first. I forced him to go to HMI first and realized if he was not forced, we could not be at HMI. It would have been closed before we could reach there.
b) 3-point tour was converted to 1-point tour since the day was daserra and he would leave early. He was paid for full day and provided service for 3 hours only.

Detailed TR will be followed very soon.

Please add some photos too

How about moving your Trip Report section to a separate thread ? It would be helpful for future travelers I think.

If it helps others, I have no problem. You can move it or help me to move it.
