I did not get your point, please explain what do you mean my these sentences.

I should not pre-book a car?

If what I know of from doing outstation in NCR, Kerala, Maharastra, Gujarat, holds true for WB, then you do not negotiate with outstation. Its fixed per km, plus driver overnight, and incidentals. If your agent is in between then you are being fleeced....The rates will vary between car companies maximum a rupee here and there, for a given car.

But you never know... between Didi and Amader-Chairman the rules might be entirely different.

But during my last visit to Gangtok during summer vacation, my experience was just opposite.

Cars were quoting just double than usual. One of them quoted NJP to Gangtok transfer as 7k-8k range which was abnormally high!

Please experts, let me know about your experiences.

Nycank's comment was on general outstation services ; say from Kol to Durgapur Or Asansol to Kharagpur etc. I think that was not for tourism zones.

:D True. The driver, will start at the Garage, somewhere in Cal, and take the pax to whereever, and X days later, bring them back. Smart money will note the odometer, and then add pickup/drop-off to garage charges to the km total. Bingo !

It will be never confirmed.

In 2AC only 3 seats can be booked in the Train no. 13147 Uttarbanga express (Sealdah to NJP). https://indiarailinfo.com/train/seats/1185/325/444?kkk=1533046879072

In 2AC only 2 seats can be booked in the Train no. 15960 Kamprup express (NJP To Howrah). https://indiarailinfo.com/train/seats/reservation-availability-kamrup-express-15960/908/444/1#st

Who booked the 2AC tickets on those trains? Your TA?

My goodness!

For Kolkata to NJP, I have sleeper class tickets as back up, but nothing for return journey.

Yes, it was booked by my TA and he is a regular ticket supplier for all of us and in our office everyday someone or other travels. He is the person who buys tickets. I thought he is trustworthy, now I am confused. How he told, it will be confirmed for sure!:weep:

But can you please explain why it is so?

Maybe because WL-3/4/5/6 looks good. But the train (Kamrup Express) only allows 2 seats in 2AC between NJP-HWH. There are quotas between stations. The Kamrup exp runs a long way from Dibrugarh to Howrah and there is only one 2AC coach.

It was booked from some other station after NJP, not from NJP. He told me the same, if I try to book it from NJP, I will not get it.

Plus two tickets are booked under SS quota.

How what the chances? Expert opinion please.
