Hi all,
I'm going to Kolkata for a friend's wedding in late January. This will be my first trip to India, and I should be travelling with a friend or two. I should have about a week to spend in the country after the 3ish days of wedding events. What I would love is a decent shot at seeing both rhinos and tigers. Maybe Ranthambore and Kaziranga?
Something like this:
Arrive
1 day settling into Kolkata
3 days wedding
1 day travel Kolkata to Kaziranga
3 days in Kaziranga
1 day travel Kaziranga to Ranthambore
3 days in Ranthambore
Depart

Is that even feasible, or should I just spend 3-4 days at Kaziranga and a couple extra days around Kolkata on non-wildlife stuff?

You cant get from Kaziranga to Ranthambore in a day save by private aircraft. You can get to Bandhavgarh if you fly Guwahati to Calcutta and then a train to Katni or Umaria. Use erail.in for connections (train) and cleartrip for flight searches.

Alternatively, you could visit the Sundarbans from Kolkata. There will be some wildlife certainly but chances of spotting a tiger are much higher in Bandhavgarh.

Even Tadoba is good for Tiger sightings. You can take direct flight (or with change over) from Guwahati to Nagpur. I have not checked flight connections. Alternately you can take Flight from Guwahati to Kolkata & then train from there to Nagpur.

You might see Tiger in Kaziranga itself.
I would suggest fly to Guwahati from Kolkata, drive to Kaziranga. do safaris there. Check out the Rhinos and hopefully get a tiger also
then drive back to Guwahati, fly to Nagpur. Then drive to Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve. Tiger sightings in Tadoba is almost guaranteed if you do minimum of 4 safaris. A leopard sighting here could be a bonus

Safaris in Tadoba gets booked atleast 2 months in advance as in other major tiger reserve, so you need to plan accordingly.

Yes, its always better to plan everything in advance as Safaris booking in some tiger reserve is sometime tricky
