Goa in August
Hi,
My husband and I are planning a 5-day trip to Goa in mid August (15th-20th Aug). It would be great if you guys could suggest some nice places to stay and eat. Now, we are still in the initial planning stage. We have not finalized on which beaches we would want to visit etc. I am keen on Palolem, Calangute and Baga. However, any suggestions are welcome!!
I have the following queries to spruce up our travel plan:
Stay:
We are looking at budget stays - these can be home stays, resorts, beach shacks or hotels, basically any place, with basic amenities and proximity to the beach. I had a budget of not more than 800 per night in mind. Although simple, we would like the place to look pretty and not completely like a boy's hostel!
Also cleanliness is very important. (Websites/ phone numbers would help)
(Does anyone have reviews for Albuquerque Holiday Villas, Chattai Beach Huts or Hi-Tide Coco Huts? I am actually keen on places like these.)
Are there any relatively unexplored (read less crowded) beaches in Goa? If yes, are there any nice places to stay close by? (From what I have heard, in this season even the most happening beaches are almost empty. Is this true?)
Are adventure sports such as para sailing open during this season? (Contact numbers would help)
Questions for the ladies: Please suggest some shops where I can buy pieces of jewellery/ bags and summery clothes for cheap. Is the flea market open at this time? Where is it?
We plan to hire a bike and roam about. Any suggestions/ words of caution there would be helpful.
Food:
Both me and my husband are not fish eaters. We only eat chicken and prawns. Can you suggest some good places to eat some traditional Goan and Portuguese food?
Any suggestions would be great! Thank you!!

August is monsoon time and from tourist point of view it is off-season. Almost all beach shacks will be closed. Water sports will not be available as the waters are not safe in monsoon. But monsoon in Goa has another attraction... the lush green countryside. So, I suggest look at hinterland Goa instead of the beaches.
Chicken & Prawn should be avaialble in most restaurants.

Hi, I was wondering if you had any luck yet finding a beach-hut vibe place to stay in Goa. My boyfriend and I are going to Goa the first week of August. From what I've gathered, no beach huts are available in Palolem during that time. Any suggestions on what othet towns to visit in August would be appreciated.
