Hi,

Me and my girlfriend are going to South India next month starting on the 5th December for around four weeks. We are trying to get a pretty solid itinerary before we go, however the one we decided on we aren't sure if we will have enough time or if we are trying to do too much? Any advice would be appreciated. We are flying in about out of Bangalore between the 5th and 31st. Here is our rough plan

Arrive in Bangalore
From Bangalore to Hampi
Back to Bangalore
Bangalore to Kumbakonam
Kumbakonam to Kodaikanal
Kodaikanal to Munnar
Munnar to Kannur
Kannur to Mysore
Mysore to Bangalore

Just typing this is making me nervous. is this way too much? We had originally planned a relaxed trip and then we started reading the guidebooks...!

Thanks, M

Itís easily doable, most of my trips I move on every 2-3 days with a small break here and there.

As Aarosh has mentioned, youíll need to figure out transport between each place, and quite often looking at a map doesnít cut it in India as connections arenít always obvious but you should try and avoid back tracking on yourself as it eats up precious days.

Are you wedded to the places you suggested or open to revised itinerary suggestions?

We have overnight trains booked for most of the journeys, except kumbakonam to kodaikanal which we will probably get a bus to trichy then a train to dindigal then a bus to kodaikanal. Then Kodai kanal to Munnar we want to go on a hike, the we will get a bus to shoranur then a train to Kannur. That's the plan anyway...

we are definitely open to suggestions. We really want to go to Hampi, Kodaikanal and Mysore, but open to suggestions otherwise. We were getting worried that our current plan wouldn't leave us with enough time to relax and we would return home more stressed than when we left, however...
