Hi Guys, firstly I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the correct place. I really need help please I'm planning a trip to India next year 2012. No. Pax 05 Adults and 01 Child 8 years old. We landing in Mumbai in the early hours of 04th Feb 2012. We will be flying to Chennai. I'm not sure if the places I select is fine for temple tours Chennai (02 Night), Mahabalipuram (01 Night), Tanjore (01 Night), Madurai (01 Night), Rameshwaram (01 Night), Kanyakumari (01 Night), Kovalam (02 Nights) thereafter I would like to do a bit of North Haridwar (Ganges) Delhi, Agra,Jaipur. We have 15 Days to do the North and South is is possible if not what can I cut out? From Jaipur I must go back to Mumbai to spend two days for shopping before we fly back home. I will be travelling with my 3 kids and my 70 year old mum I'm not sure if the travelling is going to be too much for her. Please please help if this itinerary is to hectic I would really appreciate if I could get one that not so hectic but must include temples in South (Meenachi temple, and Ganges River. I'm running out of time I still have to book hotels and transport. I'm very desperate please help

Kamie, welcome to India Mike; I hope one of the mods will see your post and move it to the itinerary section, where it will get better attention.

How are you travelling between these temple towns? If you've got a car and driver, it will be easier on your mother. I am in my late 60s and travel by train all over India, but I'm not in a rush and it can be exhausting.

My suggetion

Hire a car in Chennai for visiting Mahabalipuram, spend the night there and reach Chennai the next day.

From Chennai to Madurai take a train. From Madurai hire a car to cover Tanjore, Rameshwaram and back to Madurai. From Madurai take a train to Kanyakumari. From Kanyakumari take a car to Kovalam. Then from Trivandrum take a flight to Delhi. From Delhi hire a car to see Agra, Haridwar, Rishikesh and back to Delhi. Take a train from Delhi to Jaipur and then another train from Jaipur to Mumbai.

Another option to hire a cab from Chennai to travel till Kovalam. You can check out Swagatam Tours and Travels. They can help you plan your travel in South as well as North India. They have got a few good reviews here.

Thanks so much for your feedback however not sure if I made a mistake...I arrive in Chennai on the 4th Feb and book in at Malles Manotaa until the 5th. We check out on the 6th and drive to Mabalipuram booked a night in Mamalla Beach Resort. 7th drive to Pondicherry spend a night in Abi Krishna. Can I then drive to Tanjore and continue my journey. I'm woried about the hours we'lbe spend driving. Please help I not sure where to from here and how many days to book in each place. I don't want to travel too much by train prefer A/C vehicles. I also don't want to make it too tiring for my mum. Please your feedback will be highly appreciated
