Hey guys!

So after dithering about where to go this weekend we finally decided on Rishikesh. It'll probably be a bit crowded, I know, but it'll still be nice to see the ganga and maybe do some rafting

Anybody know what the road is like at the moment?
I remember last time I went, two years ago, the road was being rebuilt. It's not far, but then again 250 km feels like an eternity if all we'll be doing is dodging trucks and potholes.

I'd love to hear some suggestions too on places within 300 km (north) of Delhi, the more secluded the better for future weekends

Rafting will be closed, but Ganga will be there to see. The road is fine, and there are many places within 300-350 Kms of Delhi like Renuka lake, Chakrata, Lansdowne etc.
If you find my posts confrontationist, please bear, I am an old frustrated guy who has nothing better to do than sit on rocking chair and curse the world whole day

Never been to Risihkesh(plans stayed on paper only) so would not comment on the road status.Overall it's rainy reason and not the best time to go to Mountains where landslides occur without warning.Check this thread and local news if you decide anyway. http://www.indiamike.com/india/uttar...013-a-t198165/

See the below map for <300 kms places and take extra care while choosing "secluded" or off-track places even if there is a male friend along.
