Delhi - Badrinath unconventional route advice

Hi Folks,
Looking for suggestions to take an unconventional route from Delhi to Badrinath. In other words - I am looking for a route which does not goes through the regular yatra route of Delhi-Haridwar-Srinagar etc.
One possible option I could think of is the route via Delhi-Almora-Gwaldham-Karanprayag or another could be Delhi-Dehradun- Dhanulti-Chota but am not sure what are the places to see/visit. I want some some route which has scenic places to halt and stay enroute.
Looking for suggestions - I have 12 days at hand and looking to do this trip in May.

Thanks,
Amit.

The shortest route is

Leave delhi early to cross ghaziabad in time.
Delhi - GZB-Meerut - Right turn after railway crossing via bye pass -Bijnore - Najibabad - Kotdwar - Road Satpuli - Partisan - Buakhal - Pauri/ Khirsu(stay night at Khirsu and is a beautiful resort)- Srinagar - Joshimath - Badrinath. Visit Mana/ Neelkantheswar base.

THanks
Anil Bhan

Thanks Anil - Nice route but missed to say earlier that I did the same last year :)

Alternate route mentioned above is actually longer but not by much.

Via Dhanolti is a long way. If unconventional means a long route, then you can even go via Barkot! Other than that, there are only a few ways to approach Badrinath, considering you have to go via Karnprayag eventually.

Dilliwaala,
In terms of time on raod,
I would suggest to leave early and going via Pauri consumes the shortest time as you hit Srinagar in 9 Hrs max.

Via Dhanoulti - will touch Kanatal/ Chamba/ New Tehri/ and then you cross Tehri to Srinagar. the moment you enter sirinagar distt., road is bad, but no traffic though amazing views. you hit the Badrinath road (fm Rishikesh) just before Bridge to Siringar.

If you have time and enthusiasm, go to
Rishikesh/ devprayag/ Sirinagar/ Rudraprayag/ KarnaPrayag/ NandPayag/ Chamoli/ Joshimath/ VishnuPrayag/ G.Ghat/ pandukeshwar/ Hanuman chatti and Badrinath ji.
Come back to Joshimath - Gwaldam - Baijnath - Kausani.
back from kausani - Choukori
Kausani - almora - Pithoragarh - Myunsari
Pithoragarh - Lohaghat - tanakpur - Rudrapur - Moradabad - delhi.

OR
Bypass Almora - Pithoragarg and go to Kausani - Ranikhet - Bhimtal - nainitaal - Haldwani - Rudrapur-Moradabad - delhi

Thanks,
Anil bhan

No need to go to Pauri/Shrinagar. Buwakhal/Khirsu route is 5 km shorter and traffic-free.

This route is not recommended anyway, even so no need to go via New Tehri. Direct to B'puram and then across the dam.
Shrinagar is in Pauri Garhwal district.

Seems like this thread is going in all the wrong directions.
@Anil - Thanks I liked your suggestion of going through Pithoragarh.

@Dilliwala - Point is not to take the longest route. As I said earlier as well, I am regular to Badrinath and tried a few options already. So just want to be creative this time and take a different route and visit some new places. I don't mind travelling a bit longer if required.

Again the intent is not to take the shortest or the longest route - it is to cover some new uncovered places in that region.

+1 to Dilliwala try the Pauri route just back from my Auli few days back I had taken the following route in return journey

Joshimath-Karnaprayag-Rudraprayag-Srinagar-Pauri-Lansdowne-Kotdwar-Najibabad-Bijnor-Meerut-Delhi

I also planned for Delhi-Nainital-Gwaldam-Simli-Karnaprayag-Joshimath route for my up journey but route was full of twist and sharp bends so will try next time also there was chances of snowfall en route in winters so avoided it! you can search my log on google i10 Auli trip for more details!

Thanks

Yeah, I think I got that. My point is that there are limits to creativity when there are not many approaches. Btw, you don't consider PITHORAGARH to be a long way around [shock]?

Ok, here's what you can try with "minor" increase in distance -
a) Kotdwara route, but via Khirsu after Buwakhal, exit at Khankra. Nice views along the way and low on traffic.

b) From Rudraprayag - Kanakchauri (walk to Kartik Swami if you like)-Pokhri-Karnprayag.

c) Rudraprayag-Chopta-Chamoli.

d) Back-track required, but from Joshimath - to Malari and Gamshali (Niti too if you get a permit) and return to Joshimath.
