Hello lovely forumers,

Myself and 2 best friends (all 23years old) are coming to India in July for the first time of our lives. We are now so excited we cannot stop watching Incredible India tv advert.

Would any travel guru kindly check our itinerary please? I have a feeling it's going to be pack, slightly overambitious, but we wish to make the most of our times in Delhi, Agra and Varanasi.

So here it goes:

26/7 Arrive in New Delhi Airport
Overnight stay in Smyle Inn,Paharganj

27/7 SalaamBalak city walk in Delhi
3.30pm Board Gandwana Express train to Agra Cannt
Check in Hotel Kamal

28/7 Visit Taj Mahal! Day trip in Agra with a local guide
9.20pm Board Marudhar Express Agra (AF)to Varanasi (BSB)
Overnight on train

29/7 10.30 Arrive in Varanasi
Check in Ganpati Guesthouse
Walk the Ghats (on our own or with local guide)

30/7 Sunrise boat ride!
3.30pm Fly back to New Delhi with AirIndia
5.05pm Arrive in New Delhi
Check in Smyle Inn

31/7 City walk (on our own or with local guide)
Fly back to Kuala Lumpur.

Pheuh! To catch the preferred train/flight times, our schedule may not be very flexible.

Booking
I wish to book all my trains in advance to avoid disappointment and unforeseen extra cost/difficulties.
- Seat61, the train guru, suggests booking train at www.cleartrip.com ---> Anyone here has experience using them?

Budget: Medium 20-50USD/day
-I have selected the above hotels to suit our financial situation.
-If I say we budget about 20USD/day for foods, does that sound reasonable? we consume halal/vegetarian foods.

So yeah, my concern now is:
1. Is this trip doable?
2. Is it best to book train in advance?
3. As a newbie, I welcome all criticism

Sorry for the lengthy essay. Thanks for your time, and I hope to hear from you all experts soon

1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Since you only have 5 days, I'd say go for it. But book those trains fast before they are booked out.
