Hello to everyone. I am a newbie on this site and would really appreciate some help and advice. I am planning a 2 week trip to India in October/November, travelling from London to Delhi and arriving on 31/10/08. Plan to get express train to Agra on 2/11/08 for a couple of days. Want to then go to Udaipur and then to Mumbai and catch an internal return flight from Mumbai to Goa on 8/11/08 to spend the second week relaxing in Goa. Will be flying back to London from Mumbai on 15th November.

Can anyone advise me of the best way to get from Agra to Udaipur to Mumbai? Can this be done by train and how long would this take? Is there alot of changing trains involved?

Hello Neil and welcome to indiamike.com

There is a daily, overnight train from Bharatpur to Udaipur, Bharatpur is about 60kms from Agra, and about 25kms from Fathepur Sikri.

There is a direct, overnight train from Udaipur to Mumbai, though the train only runs on 3 days of the week, the best alternative is to get a bus to Ahmedabad (5 hours), then either a fast daytime train or a slower overnight train from Ahmedabad to Mumbai.

There are also direct trains (5 days a week) from Mumbai (departing about 11:30am) to Goa (arriving about 07:00), though these trains are busy and need to be booked in advance.

Or you could get a bus from Udaipur to Mt. Abu, visit the area, then an overnight train from Abu Rd station to Mumbai.

Or get an Udaipur-Mumbai-Goa flight.
