Clueless and headed to India
I've been traveling around Asia for 2 months and I'm flying out of Mumbai on December 15 to the states, it's the end of my trip. Currently I'm in Laos, I plan to return to Bangkok within a week and fly to India, it looks like Calcutta is the cheapest place to fly to, though I'm flexible.
Any idea about what to see/do in about three weeks? I'm looking around the site, but it's a bit overwhelming.
All suggestions greatly appreciated.
Depends a lot upon what you want to experience - whether you want to see the mountains - go to the beach or experience religion or culture. Make up your mind and let us know so we can help you better
1. Do the popular tourist circuit of Delhi - Agra (Taj Mahal) - Jaipur. This is what the majority of first-time visitors to India would do
2. See places in and around Calcutta, perhaps including the Buddhist circuit and / or a visit to the Sun Temple at Konark. This would be the cheapest option if you are landing in Calcutta and are on a budget. I am from Calcutta and can provide you further details if you have anything specific you'd like to see
3. Spend time in the south of India on a tour of temples. Not common but many of the southern temples are over a thousand years old each and have unique architecture and styles
Options 1 and 3 would involve additional flights. Option 2 could be accomplished through rail travel, though I recommend booking tickets well in advance
i do agree with first reply. you must let other kknow what sort of places you want do and see. india has got a vast no. of places knows for their own attractions likes of mountains or beaches or cultures. this make rest more comfortable to post a more right answers.
