Hi,

I am planning to travel to India again for a short time. Probably a week. I need a calm place where I can relax for a week, in nature, woods, maybe meet some people, kill time and be friends, see local culture, local shops etc. Some action maybe not ruled out either
I was thinking of Goa because that the only place I know. But even in Goa I do not know a lot places. When we do a search all we get its famous spots thus crowded. I need something quite yet not lonely but good people. Can someone guide any place any particular hotel (4+ ratings, clean & secure). I have hard time locating spots and hotels. Other peoples experience can come in handy. And ofcourse, security is a must.

The other place I thought was Kanyakumari but after doing some research I saw that besides the Vivekanand statue there is nothing else to see there. So I belive it will be a waste of 1 week. Pleasae correct me if I am wrong.

Other place I heard but not visited is Kerala. I heard that Kerala is good too to see. Its green and beautiful. Can anyone guide me what is there to see, how are locals, hotels, security etc etc.

Any help will be appreciated!

I don't know what you want to look at, so suggest you do your own searching. You might start here.

Day trips to Aleppey and the backwaters of Kerala are possible.

The Malabar House is good.

When are you planning to do this?

The hills of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand could be an option for you.

You could even consider Konkan.. The stretch has got lots to offer.. Beach, forts, forests, mountains, temples and more..
Sar Pass Trek , Rohtang, Munnar, Badrinath Kedarnath, Vaishnodevi, Goa, VOF, Kedarkantha, Kuari Pass, Brahmatal Trek

Net access is dicey in the interiors.. Actually mobile access is dicey in the mountains and hence the same for net..
The coast usually doesn't have any issue.

I checked some pictures online for the link you sent. The local life looks nice. However I am not able to find the Malabar House.

Konkan is good too. I checked some pictures online. Can someone guide any particular hotel to stay that has places or beaches or anything to hang around at. Its too much research to do. I dont want to regret after I book something and its not quite good. Its kinda hard. Any spots in Konkan?

Cochin is good too. Actually I would prefer Cochin over Konkan.

In the next two weeks, most of India would be in the grip of the monsoons, which would be starting to peak. Almost all tourist places would start operating at the bare minimum, and the konkan area would/could/might be a challenge to traverse. You would need to factor that in, for any "calm" place you decide upon.

Got it. Will consider that also. Infact, rain in woods is awesome but if it rains all the time it willbe a problem and mess up the travelling plans. Will consider your suggestion..
