Best way to get from Bangalore Airp-Asanur/Sathy?

Had asked similar question in Bangalore-section, but no satisfying reply yet. So.. arriving at 6pm (incl. customs) at Bangalore airport - how to get to Asanur/Dimbam in Erode destrict? Which route to take?

We`d like to try to hit Asanur right away, I assume it takes 4 hours+. A nearby resort quoted me 5.000-10.000 Rupees for a cab which sounds skyrocking. Even to Ooty they ask less.

Anyone knows a reasonable priced way to get there by car&driver from BGL airport? Or, if we drive ourselves, which is the best route to take straight to Asanur?

Thank you so much

Hi Nicole,

If you want to make it fast, you could hire a cab from Bangalore International Airport itself and the best route is :-

In Cab :-

Route 1:-

Airport-Kanakapura-MAlavalli-Shivasamudra Waterfalls- Kollegala-asanur-Sathy.
Road condition is bit average in some patches in the above route until Kanakapure.

Route 2:-

Airport-Bangalore-Kengeri-Maddur-Kollegal-Asanur-Sathy.

This route is just Fantastic.

End-to-end might take 5 hours.

In Public Transport :-

If you want to do it in bus itself, get a BMTC volvo bus to Kempegowda / Majestic bus stand Or Bangalore City JN (Railway station) . Both are just opposite to each other with just a road in between. From there, Get to Mysore. From Mysore , there are buses to Asanur / Sathy every 45 minutes in day time.

OR

Just book well in advance the Volvo A/c Bus from Bangalore which will directly will drop you in Asanur / Sathyamangalam (Dep: 19:30 Hrs from Bangalore Bus stand) but only thing is, you will be reaching Asanur around 12:30 am ! [ Have your resort Jeep waiting for you at Asanur Checkpost / Police station (Those are the 2 prominent buildings in Asanur )if you opt for this option].

Hope this helps

Hi Velu,

such a great source you are! I appreciate reading all your posts here in Indiamike so much..

You know, we were thinking of spending on night in Mysore. I took the regular bus from there to Aasanur last time and it was just great. It`s an option. But.. I just wanna go to Asanur for trekking and if we reach there in the evening, we can start right away the next morning and don`t waste time. In february/march trekking is best done early as it`s hot.

So, route 2 sounds great! Would you grab a regular cab at BGL airport and go by metre if we do this or can we prebook a car&driver in advance and haggle for a deal? 5.000 - 10.000 Rps sounds costly. A car to Mudumalai near Ooty costs 4.500 and it`s 7 hours from BGL airport. What do you think..?

Nicole,

I do not have any personal experience with Cabs as such. But Distance wise , almost Mudumalai and Asanur are same (KM wise) from Bangalore or Mysore with Asanur 10 to 15 kms more. This might help you in settling with the fare as such.

Sorry, one more question: If we want to bus it up from Bangalore, it might be advisable to prebook a seat if for an ac-bus. Do I consider 5 hours for the trip and heading in direction to Coimbatore? Then how to book it from outside the country?

Platforms like makemytrip failed, maybe cause it`s within different destricts. Any idea, maybe a reliable travel agent in Banglore who handles bus-tickets?

Hello Nicole

Check out KPN travels.
contact numbers:
080-26709912,080-26700111
080 is the STD code of Karnataka(state).

Alternatively, you can try KSRTC. Their Volvo A/C buses are a good option.

There is no need to book buses online. There are plenty of buses at regular intervals and you will be able to get one. Don't worry.

Hi Nicole,

You may try registering yourself in www.ksrtc.in and you can book online.
You can take a printout and travel.
If you face any issues,Post here.

Also, DO NOT HEAD to coimbatore Via Hosur / Salem (It's Circuitous and time consuming for reaching Asanur as such). Try out booking the Coimbatore bus which goes Via Mysore which is short and takes less time.

Excellent infos, thanks to all of you. Why I wish to book in advance is that we need to get a bus shortly after arrival in BGL IF going by bus.. about 7-8pm from Majestic, cause travelling time to Asanur is 5 hrs and arrival would be very late if we have to wait for a bus in BGL.

Another option is make it halfway, stopover in Mysore for 1 night, and get a bus early morning to A. Or a straight taxi from BGL(or Mysore), if we can get a reasonable rate. First offer was 7000 RPs to Asanur, now we`re offered 4000 for the 201 kms. Decisions, decisions..
