I have two weeks in India at the end of May/beginning of June. I am visiting a friend in Bangalore for a 3-5 days and then had been planning to go to Gorkana for some beach time, visit Hampi, maybe Mysore and then back to Bangalore to fly home. However, everything I read says don't go to the beach in South West India in May/June, so am having to rethink! (Although happy to be told otherwise!)

Weather looking better in Tamil Nadu. So was thinking instead going to Pondicherry and a hill station (Ooty or Kodaikanal?), but then I'm missing out Hampi...

Is there any obvious transport connections between Hampi and Pondicherry perhaps with a nice stopover somewhere on the way?

Do people have any specific recommendations for a hill station in Tamil Nadu?

Is it definitely a bad idea to try and include a nice bit of beach time in Gorkana, Goa or Kerala at the end of May?

Sorry for all the questions!

You can spend some time on the beach, but be prepared for a very brutal sun. It's the peak of summer, just before the south west monsoon arrives, so it'll be hot and humid. If you're looking at the first week of June, it might start raining in South Kerala.

Suggest that you go to Coorg area from Mysore. Madikeri is about 4 hours from there - continue further into the hills towards Kakkabe or Virajpet. Spend a few days at a nice coffee plantation amidst rolling hills. Back to Mysore and then overnight train to Hospet for Hampi.

The beaches would be uncomfortable (hot and humid)

Why Tirupati...just for the train stopover? Unless you want to stand in queues..

as far as my knowledge if u want to go to pondicherry then either it should be via gunthakal or bangalore so as they start from banglore u can avoid that and the only important place u can visit in that route in tirupati.
And they dont have to stand in queues because they have foreign quota and u get confirmed tickets just like that.
