Hi IMers

it would be great to have your feedback on my travel plans!

We are a group of 5. I have studied in India for six months 10 years ago and originally wanted to see Ladakh, but for the others it will be the first time and the travel plans changed accordingly.

The open parts are:

- General: The main point is to not have a too cramped itinerary

- For the first week in the South (Chennai to Delhi): I'm unsure about where to go and am open to suggestions, i.e. not set on Madurai and Munnar. Personally, I have seen Mamallapuram, Mysore Puducherry, Ooty, Auroville, Kochi and would prefer to see something new. The main point is to not be too stressed, to see some nature (elephants would be great), South Indian culture, and arrive in Delhi on August 3rd

- The third week (Varanasi, Amritsar, Jodhpur): Amritsar and Rajasthan are not so easy to combine imho.

- The fourth week (Ladakh): Not yet really planned. Because of time constraints I have to fly in and acclimatise, but will inform myself on IM.com and devilonwheels.com in the next months.

Just some remarks
- I think you want to do too much, especially for the first time travellers
- Munnar and Ghandi sanctuary are far from Madurai, see if Periyar suits you
- Consider to drop Amritsar and spend more time in Varanasi, eventually include Orchha between Agra and Varanasi
- Out of Jodhpur we did this 2 days trip to the desert, it was great.

If you want to visit indiragandhi wildlife sanctuary - Coimbatore airport is nearer. You can fly to Delhi directly from there.
July / August is south east monsoon and Valparai, Anamalai areas get some serious rains.
