I am considering a passage in karnataka, arriving from europe in bengaluru, then somnathpur, mysore, halebid and belur, hampi (vijayanagar) badami (with pattadakal) and bijapur; from bijapur I can take the night train to bengaluru.
I have only - at maximum - 12 days free from job.
do you think are they sufficient for this itinerary ?
A second question: probably I will be not alone but with my wife who fears high temperature.
Do you think that in april karnataka is very very very hot and wet, especially in central - northern region ?
thank you another time !
best regards

Expect daytime temperatures of over 40C. The monsoon starts later as far as I know.

Buon Giorno, Massimo!

It will be hotter than Firenze in summer!

Two ideas:

1. Break up the trip at a Hill Station such as Ooty or Coonoor, for some respite from the temperatures, and a change to a different landscape of beautiful hills and plantations which will make you feel cooler as well.

2. Depending on your budget--make sure to stay in at least a couple places with nice swimming pools. Mysore has some lovely hotels with swimming pools (e.g. Royal Orchid Metropole--no doubt there are others) and another, conveniently located for Halebid and Belur, called Hoysala Village. The rooms there are average, but the pool is beautiful!

Perhaps with the promise of at least two hotels with swimming pools, your wife will be more willing to accompany you!

Of your itinerary route, I've been to only BLR Airport, Mysore, Halebid, Belur...but it seems 12 days would be enough total.

Please note also, on return trip via overnight train to Bangalore, the BLR airport is Northeast of the city and approximately an hour's drive away.

Hi baller,

Twelve days is enough for the itinerary moving fast, but 12 days "free from job" means 8-9 days in India, then is almost impossible to do the whole itinerary. Karnataka is not well comunicated by train and the roads are in general bad. About the weather in April, for sure will be hot, even very hot, but will be the same all around the country.

Probably the best and only way for this journey is with car and driver. You must check the train connections between all this places but few years ago were in general non-existent.

To OP :-

Northern, Central , Eastern and Coastal Karnataka will be very hot [Especially Northern karnataka] and Southern Karnataka / South interior Karnataka [ Read Bangalore /Mysore / Coorg ] will be OK to Pleasant [ For Indian Conditions] with around 35 Degrees Max in Day time with comfortable evenings and a bit Chill at Nights [ Again compared to indian conditions and the Minimum will be 19 to 21Degree Celcius approximately]..

Hope this helps !
