Dear Friends,
We are planning for Dharshan of Lord Somnath and Lord Nagnath.
Our program is as under
5th August 2011 Leaving Chennai
6th August 2011 Arriving Ahmedabad
7th August 2011 to Veraval
8th August 2011 Somnath visit
9th August 2011 Departure to Dwarka Via Rajkot
10th August 2011 After Dharshan at Dwarka Departure to Ahmedabad
11th August 2011 Arrival Ahmedabad for Departure to Ujjain
I have booked onward train ticket to Ahmedabad.
No accommodation is available in Connecting train to Veravel.
When I tried for car rental, I found they charge too much Example Rs 12,000 for entire trip through Indica.
Will any body suggest any other way?
Whether bus services are available at Ahmedabad, Veraval, Dwarka and if so contact details and bus stand details is required.
Pl also state whether the tour Ahmedabad to Veraval to Rajkot to Dwarka is feasible or Ahmedabad to Dwarka to Somnath is feasible
Thanks and regards
Sengailingam

Having completed Dharshan of 9 Jyothirlingam, this time I went along with my friend Shri Vijayaraman to have Dharshan of Lord Somnath and Lord Nageshwar. Both are considered to be as one among two jyothirlingam.

Ahmedabad: We alighted at Ahmedabad as per the scheduled and went out side the Railway Station. Just opposite to the Railway Station a good hotel is available. We had dinner in the hotel and came back to the Railway station for onward journey to Somnath. We paid Rs. 40.00 for each plate and enough to us. Nearby Railway station nothing special is available to see.

Veraval: We reached Veraval as per the schedule. Somnath is exactly 7 Kms from Veraval. We felt little bit cold and we had a need to have hot water both. The Auto Driver took us to Triveni Sangamam, where hot water facility is available. The person there demanded Rs 20.00 for each bucket and we paid. He gave half bucket excellent hot water. Just little bargain will be helpful to have 3/4th bucket of hot water. After hot water bath, we started our sight seeing. We went to the following places and finally we reached Somnath Temple.
Somnath Old and New, Triveni Sangamam, Surya Temple,Baldev Gufa, Sardha Math, Jagadguru Sankaracharyar Gadi, and lot. Finally on the way he took us to the Two Sivalingams in side the Sea.

On arrival at Veraval we came out of Railway Station and fortunately got Shri. Mussabha an Autoriksha Driver. His contact number is 09714763052. He took us to Somnath Temple. He has local tour site seeing program. We booked him for Rs 350.00 and having seen his service, we paid Rs 400.00.

Somnath Temple: Two Somnath temples are available. One is old Temple and another is New Temple. We went to old temple. There was no restriction. As usual one can touch the “Lingam” and pray. We found no crowd. Peaceful - Dharshan. Then we came to new Temple. Here also there was not much crowd but lot of restrictions and security. As usual no cell Phone, Camera, Leather belt, etc is allowed. Excellent arrangement for depositing all belongings is available. No fear. Just deposit every thing. A key will be given. Belongings can be collected after Dharshan. Here the temple authorities have arranged for bathing, toileting etc. in excellent manager. Hot water facility is not known. However very good arrangement exists. Photography is allowed outside the temple. To have good Dharshan and to see all the places at least 2 to 3 hours is required. After Dharshan we went to our lunch. Excellent unlimited lunch for Rs 70.00. The address of the Hotel is as follows: Modern Dinning Hall, Opp to Aradhana Cinema Opp. GEB Verval. Owner Shri Shailesh Pujara Cell No. 09979999767

After lunch, we reached the Railway station for onward journey to Dwarka.

The train reached Dwarka in time. The bath room facilities in Dwarka are simply excellent. After finishing bath etc., we came out and found one TATA magic. He agreed to take us to Nageswaram. Nagnath Temple is exactly at 17 Kms from Dwarka. We reached Nageswaram Temple within 20 mits. The road is very good. No crowd at 0600 hrs. The Pandit asked us to deposit Rs 210.00 for a simple Pooja. We performed the Pooja and the Pooja was completed within 20 mits. We took few photos out side the temple. Photography is not allowed inside the temple. All other belongings such as cell phone, camera etc is allowed inside the temple. The important point here is the devotees are allowed to enter with “Dhotis” only. Lot of Dhotis is available in the nearby room.

After Dharshan we came back to Rukmani Devi Temple. The temple is reported to be 4500 years old. The sculptures in the Tower are in stone, due to age, they are in very dilapidated condition. After Dharshan we came back to Railway Station.

After Rukmani Devi Dharshan, we came to Dwarakanath (Krishnan Temple) at Dwarka. This temple is also reported to be very old. Age was not known. Here also lot of restrictions. Cell phone, Camera and all belongings is required to be deposited in the clock room. The arrangement is also found to be very good. Good Dharshan of the temple is needs 2 hours. Between 0830 hrs to 0900 hrs Pooja time.

We were told that Bet Dwarka is very nearby. Since we feared that we may miss the train, we came back to Railway Station. However, I feel that little late booking of train from Dwarka and pre booking with Auto Driver, Bet Dwarka could also have been seen.

On return we came to Bombay where my brother Shri Srinivasan, had arranged a TAXI and in which we went to Sidhi Vinayagar Temple, Venkatasaperumal Temple, Mumba Devi Temple, Beach and came to Railway Station for return to Chennai

Thank you, Sir, for showing so much trust in us! It gives us strength for returning on the Forum!

Baba Bholenath would help you in completing your mission!!

But I am sorry, I would not be of much help on Parli Baijnath, as so far I could not have darshan there.

BTW, I wish to comment on quoted section of your itineraries.
As you are traveling by Shanti Express, you would be reaching Ujjain first. Instead of coming up to Indore by the train, you may get down at Ujjain at 04:20 Hrs. By the time you complete your darshan in the morning there would be time for MPTDC Omkareshwar tour AC Bus. See the details by clicking here!

As you would find it starts at 07:00 in the morning and would be back by 08:00 in the evening. Thus covering both the Jyotirlingas in one day!

It would be a time-saver and save you from hassle of searching connecting vehicles!

Else, you would have to take a cab to do the circuit, if 16325 Ahilyanagari Express is on the same day (which could be boarded from Ujjain also)!

Though late, I wish to suggest, for the information of other IMs, It will be shorter to Parli Vaijnath from Chennai if you prefer to go via Secunderabad / Hyderabad instead of going via Bengaluru.

There is very less information on Lord Vaidyanath at Pali Vaidyanath and Lord Nagnath at Oundha Nagnath.

It would be great if you could share some information on the same.

All the information as it is placed in a tour report. Like: How to reach, where to stay, what to do, best season to visit.

Please avoid using "Sir". We are fellow IMikers. You may address me as PraKaant.

Since we performed our tour sometimes during October 2012, I have recollected the events and furnished below.

After this tour I performed one tour to Rishikesh, Kathmandu and proposed a tour to Gunupur in Orissa where lord Bhimashankar is the main deity.

Since we are pensioners and keen on our financial status, we pay much attention on our expenditure. We are performing regular tours. We are budget travelers,

We left Chennai and arrived Bangalore for onward journey to Parli Vaidyanath. We reached Parli in the late hours of the day and finally we found a room for Rs 300 near Bus Stand. The only benefit is hot water. No light, no proper toilet facility. Lot of business men stay here on permanent basis. We got up in the early morning and took an auto to the temple. I remember we paid Rs 40.00 for two and reached the temple. The temple remains open from 0600 AM. Ladies were drawing (Kolam in Tamil) with the white powder. Small children were drawing sun, Kali and other deities in the entrance. Photography is strictly prohibited. We had good dharshan. We left the temple and I remember we went to another temple. I was told that the Kali in the temple is to be worshiped for salvation from rebirth. Very crowd. Somehow we managed and had our dharshan. One must worship the deity. We came out and finished our break fast.

From here we went to Aundha Nagnath by bus. No direct Bus to Aundha nagnath is available. We went to a middle station (Parbhani) From here we went to Aundha Nagnath. But frequent buses to Pharbani and to Aundha Nagnath are available. Since we stayed nearby Parli Vaidyanath Bus Stand, we collected the availability of the bus in the previous night itself and planned our tour accordingly. We reached Aundha Nagth sometimes during 1500 hrs. The Temple authorities provide Rooms to the devotees. Lots of rooms are available. Need not to depend upon any agent. We were approached by the agent, but we avoided them and got a room in the temple complex itself. Though the rooms are very big and can accommodate about 25 people, it is not that much neat and clean. No Hot water facility is available. Photography is not allowed inside the temple. The deity is in the secret room. One small entrance in the floor is provided. People can enter in the Karpagra through this hole. One rope is hanging. Police or other people help devotees to enter in to the Karpagra.

We finished our Darshan and went to Nanded a nearby station. Where Gurdwara is available. We took free food and stayed in the railway station for our return journey to Manthralaya. We came to Manthralaya and stayed in a room. We had our bath in River Narmada. Then as per our program we left Manthralaya and came to Chennai.

Best Season to visit both temples: Except during rainy season one can have easy dharshan. Since these temples are also Jyothirlingams, I will advice to have dharshan of lord Vaidiyanath and Nagnath at these places.

I am pleased to furnish any more information, if required.
