Hey everyone!

Im glad to say that Ill be arriving to Delhi with my GF on the 29 of December (only a few days to go!). We have a return ticket from the same city, two months later (29 feb), so we are planning where to go and what to see.

The thing is that I applied for an E-visa so we only have 30 days, before having to leave the country to re apply for the same visa (granted twice per year). We thought of going to Nepal, apply for another visa in the process, and then go back to India.

We were thinking of doing Delhi>Agra>Pushkar>Udaipur>Jod hpur>Jaisalmer... then, Armitsar (through Bikaner?)>Rishikesh>Varanasi>B odhgaya>Kolkatta>Darjeeling and then Nepal?

Would 30 days be enough to cover this route?

As the E-visa requires to get to india through air, I was also considering flying to Nepal from somewhere and then returning to India's south for the last 20 days of the trip (Chennai maybe?)

Thanks in advance for the help!!!!

Leave out Amritsar and Darjeeling (and possibly Rishikesh), and it is probably doable in 30 days, if you get the train tickets for the major legs together. Best get Foreign Tourist Quota at New Delhi Railway station.

I really enjoyed Amritsar (if you go, do go to the border, it's quite fun!), so I would keep that one in.

Throw out Rishikesh, Pushkar for sure, maybe even Kolkatta.

Bikaner is OK, the rat temple is quite an experience, but it's not a must-have. Better spend some quality time in other cities.

From Delhi to Agra and back take the overnight train, but don't waste too much time in Agra. The Taj is worth all the trouble, but personally I didn't like the city at all. I was only there for two days though, so maybe that was just my impression. I'm not the biggest fan of Delhi either, though it has a lot of interesting sights and things to do/explore.

Whatever you do, don't miss Varanasi!

And one final piece of advice: factor in travel and recovery time. You're doing a lot of travelling and after an 6-10 hour bus ride or an overnight train, you might not enjoy your time as much as you could if you don't give yourself some time to rest on such a long trip. Otherwise: Enjoy!

If you need some tips for hotels, let me know and I can maybe give you some names in the cities I visited.
Amritsar - McLeod Ganj - Manali - Spiti - Shimla - Haridwar - Rishikesh - Lucknow - Allahabad - Varanasi - Khajuraho - Gwalior - Bhopal - Indore - Bundi - Udaipur - Jodhpur - Jaisalmer - Bikaner - Jaipur - Delhi
