I am flying into Kochi on January 24th and leaving from Trivandrum on Feb 22nd and am trying to make an itinerary. I would like to do backwaters in Kerala, some beaches south of Goa and then head east toward Hampi.Optimally i would like to go all the way east through Tamil Nadu and then towards Travandrum.

Are there good backwaters to the north of Kochi so I dont need to backtrack?

Is there enough time to do all this or should I rule out Tamil Nadu?

This is my first time in India but I am an experienced traveller. I will be doing it alone. Is there any other advice or changes I should make?

Hi,

As far a I know the best back waters are to the South of Kochi. Alleppey is just an hour by train from Kochi so the backtracking is minimal.

If you just visit the backwaters in Kerala and don't stay to long in Goa it is possible to include Tamil Nadu.

Maybe - an idea

rharris45

I sought some feedback to my similar foray (go look at: http://www.indiamike.com/india/keral...84/#post869696 ).

Maybe some of the answers may also help you.

Just an idea...
Cheers
