I'm headed to India in mid February with my 10 year old son. We'll be in the north (in and out of Delhi). Definites are Agra, Varanasi and Rajasthan (not clear yet where there) and likely will go to Corbett. I'm trying to plan a trip that is not too overwhelming for him and interesting for a kid. Any suggestions for us? Thoughts about where in Rajasthan to go? Any suggestions too on when to train and when to fly or take a car. Thanks!

Elephant ride to the top of Amber Fort, Jaipur. Overnight camel safari from Jaisalmer. Take an overnight train trip, an experience in itself.

I am sure more replies will follow, however, I would want to suggest a must see place in Gurgaon (nearby Delhi ~ 20-25kms). Its called KingdomOfDreams[dot]in. I am sure your kid will thoroughly enjoy!! You will also get to see the cultural beauty of various states at one place. Don;t miss out a show called Zangoora, which is a bollywood style theatrical show.

From jaipur take a taxi/train to udaipur and then jodhpur and jaisalmer, from jaisalmer take a over night train from jaisalmer to delhi,

I think it will be a nice experience for you and your child.

I posted just this on another thread:

Some years ago we traveled to Jodhpur and stayed in a small guesthouse. The owner organizes a 2D/1N trip to a small village in the Thar desert. It was great, sleeping on the roof of a building with the stars above us, in the morning the peacocks flew around us. See here for more info about this.
