Hi,

We are off to india on the 5th of March for 3 weeks and I am doing all the planning including booking flights...What do you think of this plan...How could we improve it?

5th-8th March - Delhi - hotel YUVRAJ DELUXE HOTEL booked
8th - Evening travel to Agra - hotel Sheela
9th - Taj Mahal - evening back to Delhi - (open to ideas got to be back at Deli on 11th for flight to Bangalore)
11th - booked spice jet flight - Delhi > Bangalore
12th - Bangalore
13th / 14th / 15th - Wayanad - rain country resort cottages
16th - wayanad to Trivandrum - Train?
17th / 18th - Kovalam
19th / 20th - Alleppey backwater tour
21st / 22nd - Kumarkom
23rd / 24th Cochin

25th - we have to get back to Mumbai for flight home - It is cheaper to fly from Coimbatore - 3000 rupees total against $449 usd from Trivandrum > Mumbai.

I have read that it is 220kms from Cochin to Coimbatore - are flights from here ok? We do not want to have any probs getting back to Mumbai.

Looking for 3 weeks - mix relaxation, beach with history.

Great forum has really helped me...Cheers!

On the way home, why not fly Cochin > Mumbai?

Coimbatore Airport is just fine - it's our local airport - small, clean and friendly.

You may want to fly to Mumbai the day before you depart, just in case of hold-ups.

I can't remember which airlines fly which routes, but here's a list for you to play with.

Hi there,

Thanks for your reply...
We were going to do 2 excursions on 14th and 15th - single day trips - not sure which ones...My boyfriend wanted to do some treking but come back to our cottage in the evening....Must take a torch then if lights go out at 10pm
Where did you eat etc - is it restricted to the resort?
Their website looks amazing - just wanted a chill resort after Delhi and before the beaches

Hi,

Sorry - I meant to say Mumbai > UK!

I was suggesting you could fly from Cochin to Mumbai as you will already be in Cochin. I don't see the point in going back to Trivandrum, and unless it is much cheaper, I would not bother doing the 4 hour trip from Cochin to Coimbatore.

Go Air fly Cochin (COK) Mumbai (BOM) departs daily at 18:45 and arrives in Mumbai at 20:30.

You're welcome!

If you want any help with backwater trips, hotels and drivers in the Kochi area, please send me a private message.

I have a friend who will book stuff for you and get you a good deal (other India Mikers also recommend her too.)

By the way, where are you staying in Kumarakom?

All the best,

John

About Hotel Yuvraj

I stayed at Hotel Yuvaraj 2 years ago. I was the only woman, only caucasion there. The room boys were absolutely kind and never made any inappropriate moves toward me. The hotel itself is a bit rough - needs painting and fresh air. The linens are not always fresh. This hotel is in the Pagar Gang area which is nasty to walk in. The rickshaws crowd the road, so better to walk away from the hotel to find a better price for rickshaw. Caonnaught Circle is 10 minutes away - shopping and good food. Good luck

Thanks for your reply Lindakka,

It was only 44 for 3 nights inc airport transfer so not expecting 5 star...
Can we walk to bars / restaurants or is it 10 mins in Rickshaw? I am with my boyfriend so hope we will be safe walking about in this area...Thanks for your info though...This is great!
