2 weeks+, Delhi to Mumbai or fly back from Delhi?

Hi,

Im going to india for 16 days, not that long but it will have to do. Will look at it as an introduction to india and hopefully go back next year if i liked it.
I have been reading for a couple of hours but I would like to decide first if Im going to fly back from Mumbai or from Delhi.

I read that its do-able to go from Delhi to Mumbai (while spending most of my time in rajasthan i think) but im not sure if its ideal and relaxed enough.

Anyway, depending on flexibility you may have I would suggets the following scenarios:

1. Arrive Mumbai. Do Mumbai, Goa. Then Rajasthan, Agra, Delhi. Fly out of Delhi.

2. Or, reverse. Arrive Delhi. See Delhi, Agra, Rajasthan. Then, Goa, Mumbai. Fly from Mumbai.

3. Skip the west coast (Mumbai, Goa). Arrive Delhi. Do the golden triangle more leisurely. Fly out from Delhi.

If skipping the west coast, you can probably accommodate another north Indian city. Depending on your tastes, Varanasi may be interesting. OR Simla (toy train is great). For a unique experience, Srinagar (Kashmir), but you'd have to fly and don't plan too tightly near your departure, flight delays are common.
I dont want to overdo it, realising i cant see everything in 2 weeks+ but want to find a decent balance.

What is the general consensus about arriving in Delhi with 2 weeks to spend (time mostly spend on golden triangle)?

thanks in advance for the advice, this forum has been very helpfull.

With 2 weeks you'll have a hard time doing all that.

I'd say skip Goa. Arrive in Delhi, then head to Agra and into Rajasthan. Then go down to Mumbai for a couple of days before flying out from there. Udaipur to Mumbai ia about 16 hours overnight on the train or you could take a short flight.

yeah, that wasny my topic, just copied a reply from another one I've read. Goa is not in my plans.

But you seem to think I have enough time to end my trip in Mumbai?
I think I prefer that too actually but havent done too much research or so about Mumbai.

thx for reply

Oops, sorry. Yes, no Goa in your plans.
I really enjoyed the short time I spent in Mumbai. I'd say it's worth it if you have the time. It depends on how ambitious your plans are for Rajasthan and how much you want to see there.

hmmm yeah, Im gonna sit down tonight and take a good close look at what exactly I want to see in rajasthan. I figured that booking my plane tickets was too urgent to really figure out my exact plans so wanted to book tickets and plan from there.
My plans arent too ambitious though, i dont expect to see every little thing there and spend 3 days everywhere (also dont want to rush through everything but find a good realistic balance)

I dont expect much from Delhi since i read some comments that its not the nicest city, people usually like Mumbai a lot better right?
So probably a good idea to end my trip there instead of Delhi, also the 16hour overnight train is something that I wouldnt mind.
