When in chennai, you can visit the following places.

1. Mamallapuram
2. Kanchipuram
3. Vellore and Sripuram
4. Beaches
5. Temples in Chennai

I am not sure as to how many days you are going to stay in Chennai before your flight to UK

Do let me know, based on which I can suggest you some more places.

Hey, just posted a thread to you on other forum. How funny.

I was thinking maybe 3 days? Will that be enough to see all the places I want to see? In total I could extend trip to South for total 3 weeks.

Many thanks

Hello Chippy,

Warm welcome to India !!

I am not sure about other places but i can help you on Bangalore and Mysore. You can spend one day in Bangalore and 2-3 days in Mysore. There are lots to see in Mysore, like Temples, palace, gardens etc ( a long list ) more over its depends on your wish. what to like to see. and you can catch night Buses from Bangalore to any of the places mentioned with your list.

Like to hear if you have any.
Thanks and Regards

Manu

Chippy,

One more thing.. you can add Mahabalipuram and Kanchipuram in to your Temples list ( If you like to see the important temples in Tamilnadu it will take min one week ) one more thing, near to Mahabalipuram you can visit Pondicherry one of the famous beach area. so you are going to get two birds in one shot..

Cheers

Manu

Hi Manu,

Many thanks for your suggestions, I think 2 days in Mysore should be good. Temples, palaces and gardens sounds lovely. I'm sure I could see all in one day and then relax another day.

Just wanted sure if I should start in Bangalore or if I should start in end of South and work my way up and then head to Chennai from Bangalore.

I'm more interested in breath taking scenary and places, temples and palace and garden sound fantastic.

I though I could travel from Maduri to Pondicherry then Mahabalipuram and Chennai, maybe I could fit Kanchipuram too. Will this take a week? That a chunk of my 3 week in total for south? What would you suggest best mode of transport? Private taxi? Bus? Train?

Hi Chippy,

Its purely based on the place where you are going to land?

If you are going to land Chennai, you go travel like Chennai-pondicherry beach (Mahabalipuram will come in between) you can take 2-3 days and take a over night journy to Bangalore. one day in Bangalore then head to Mysoore for two days. come back to Bangalore ( it is a 3 hour jounry max). if you like stay here one day or catch the over night bus to Ooty ( famous hill station) stay one day and step down to Coimbatore then start your Temple jounry hmm i will belive this will be cool.. hei am planning well naa

Chippy,

There are lots of Hi-tech buses are available , more over all the towns are interconnected very much. So i believe you don't feel to catch a bus from Tamilnadhu. I recommend you to catch Hi-tech buses rather then taxi. Booking trains and follow up are really a mess.

Regards

Chippy,

Yes you are true, its under construction now due to some landsliding. you can spend two or three days there at Ooty. Ooty to Coimbatore will take only few hours 5-6 max. Yes it will be good for you if you land in bangalore and catch up the return flight from Chennai.

Regards
