I know you all get this asked all the time but we need your help. We're planning to visit India for the first time, arriving in Delhi on 29th October and flying out on 19th November. (flights not booked yet so are flexible on departure airport and, I suppose, arrival). As we only have 3 weeks we are planning to take internal flights when possible to minimise the travelling time although we would like to take the train as we want to experience India not just see the inside of a plane! Our rough itinerary is

Delhi to (by air)
Udaipur to (by air)
Jodphur to (by train)
Jaisalmer (do a camel safari) to (by train)
Jaipur to (by car/bus/train?)
Ranthambore NP to (by train?)
Agra to (by train)
Varanassi (by plane to Delhi)

Is this the right way round and in the best order?
How many days do you think is right these places?
It seems like a lot of cities but we want to chill as well, are there any places we should scrap and/or add? I've read a bit about Bundi and Orchha, which sound nice but not sure how to fit in them in. Also Darjeeling sounds nice but I don't think we have enough time.

Getting very confused, want see everything and miss nothing but don't have enough time, help!!!

If you're flying, the order doesn't matter. Have you looked into the Discover India fare deals from Jet Airways or Indian Airlines that let you fly unlimited (but not backtracking) routes over a set period?

If you want to do this tour using flight it is better to use discover India fare on Indian Airlines or Visit India fare of Jet airways. Visit the link below for that.

For number of days you should give to each place is my suggestion:
Delhi to (by air) (2 days)
Udaipur to (by air) (2 days)
Jodphur to (by train) (2 days)
Jaisalmer (do a camel safari) to (by train) (3 days)
Jaipur to (by car/bus/train?) (2 days)
Ranthambore NP to (by train?) (2 days)
Agra to (by train) (1 day)
Varanasi (by plane to Delhi) (3 days)

Have a nice trip.

Sachin
