Dear all,

I know it sounds crazy with the itinerary above. Would like do know how do-able my plan is, or it would be better if I skip a city or two.

So there will be 3 of us flying into Jaipur from Kuala Lumpur, and outbound from Delhi back to Kuala Lumpur.

Day 1 - 3 : Short stay in Jaipur, since I have been there. Going to bring my friends for some photos in the pink city, shopping and food.

Day 3: Earliest flight into Jaisalmer arriving around noon. Head to our hotel and go out for a city tour our own.

Day 4-5: 2D1N trip camel safari.

Day 5: Evening bus to Udaipur (we are also looking at Johdpur, but have not make up our minds.) If you have any suggestions or view on this, please let me know.

Day 6 - 8: Udaipur/Jodhpur - we are planning to just chill and relax, eat some good food, while visiting a few important places - no rushing to see 10 places or something, we know it's a long journey from Jaisalmer so enough rest is important.

Day 8 noon: Depart Udaipur/Jodhpur and head to Agra on train or bus. Chill around Agra. Overnight.

Day 9: Visit Taj Mahal early in the morning for sunrise. Leave Agra early evening. Arrive Delhi in the night. Over night.

Day 10: Visit 1-2 prominent places in Delhi. Rest, and a night flight at 11pm back to Kuala Lumpur.

Your feedback, advice, suggestion would be very much appreciated. I have been to India 4 times now but have never seen the Taj Mahal hence I scheduled it in this trip. I'd be humbled to hear your say in this, reason being I have never been on a long distance bus ride/train ride in India, I can only imagine from reading blogs.

Thank you for reading!

Reena

The itinerary is fine as fog issues are typically not too severe in Feb. Earlier and your Jaisalmer flight would've been cancelled throwing the entire plan into disarray. These are very well connected, touristy places so no dearth of advice either.

If you leave Jaipur overnight on day 2, you can do jodhpur too. Proceed to Jaisalmer from there. Rest all seems fine to me.

Urgent question about Train

Hi all, I'm trapped in this urgent situation. My friend who is supposed to take care of all the trains and train tickets have missed out the booking from Udaipur to Agra Cantt for the 8th of Feb 2019 for 2 pax. I got a flight to catch on the 11th Feb from Delhi at 10pm. I wonder if I should find other ways to get from Udaipur to Agra or I can risk it and rely on the WL below For those of you who take trains regularly have you been denied from boarding a train before because you were on a waitlist?

8th Feb 2019 (2220)
For Tier 2AC:
GNWL11/WL10

Tier 3AC:
GNWL13/WL10

10 Days Jaipur-Jaisalmer-Udaipur-Agra-Delhi (1st Feb 2019)

Boarding ac compartments on w/l tickets is not permitted as per law. You can board sleeper class compartment though.
Can you try for Tatkal if you are not sure whether these will get confirmed or not?
Ask someone else to do the booking for you if you will be traveling at time of Tatkal booking.
As for the boarding, the tte may permit, but often don't.
Sar Pass Trek , Rohtang, Munnar, Badrinath Kedarnath, Vaishnodevi, Goa, VOF, Kedarkantha, Kuari Pass, Brahmatal Trek

To take a chance on this, since the date of travel is some time away, many websites provide confirmation probability basis the PNR of your ticket. You may try checking on those. I'm not posting their names as we get a host of spam that way. Going by bus is not feasible as it takes a whopping 18 hours. There are no flights. You could rent a car though - roads are decent and it'd be scenic.

If some passengers cancelled their seats on the AC compartments would the ones on WL be allocated these available seats? But then again, i'm gambling for 10 people to cancel their seats so my friend and I could even be given a chance to brad the train, huh?

Thank you. It might be a little too long to travel in a car with limited stretching space. The only other option I have right now is probably taking a flight from Udaipur to Delhi. Stay a night and take a day tour to Taj Mahal + Agra Fort and come back to Delhi. I would actually love to spend my days in Agra instead of Delhi hence the initial plan to taking a train to Agra, stay 2 nights and get to Delhi just before my flight. Looks like I have to ditch my first plan...

What about a RAC ticket? Is it safer than a GNWL ticket?

I have been to both Udaipur and Agra over the last year .

My suggestion is to see if you can leave earlier from Udaipur and fly to delhi and incorporate the Agra visit during your stay in Delhi ..

If you want to see the Taj at sunrise ( and I think it is the best time ) Can either go by road or train to Agra and have a one nights stay and return the next day..

Depending on where you are staying in Delhi , road might be easier . There are fast trains like the Gatimaan express from NZM to Agra Cantt..These are usually available even closer to the date of travel but then you have to factor in the trip to and from the hotel where you are staying. Not a big issue in Agra but can be well over an hour or even extending longer to 2 hours depending on which part of Delhi you plan to stay.

Also remember that the Taj is closed for tourists on Fridays while planning your itinerary.

With an RAC you can travel on the train . But you may not get a sleeper berth unless there are cancellations.

Have you tried in a higher class than you intially planned on the same trains..
