10 days from Bangalore to Kochi advice for first time solo traveler!

Hey everyone,

Just booked flights to India for coming weeks. Arriving on Wednesday evening the 5th in bangalore and flying out of kochi sunday am the 18th (11 nights/ten days total)

Thoughts were to head to mysore for a couple days, move to wildlife park for a couple days of safari/trekking( nagarhole/wyanad and or bandipur) head to Ooty for a day or so down to Cochin for a day and end in the backwaters/beach for a couple days before heading home.

1) any thoughts on best route/how long to spend in each?( specially interested in which wildlife park(s) I should visit? Whether to stay in bangalore first night or head straight to Mysore when landing around 7 pm, and whether there's somewhere cool on route to kochi to break up the long trek from Ooty?

2) was wondering whether I should be hiring a car/driver for this trip both between cities and site seeing around..or taking trains/buses/ group tours). I'm travelling solo for the first time ( 28 year old male) and would like to meet people and figured trains/buses/ group tours are a good way to do so..but I don't have that much time and driver private guide/ driver is easier( and may be required for what I want to do..) .( in general my budget is probably 100-150 a day but less is better)

Thanks for any help in advance!

I hope you mean dollars and not Rs. Taxis drivers are expensive.

I think it is better to stay in Bangalore since after your arrival it will easily take two hours before you are out of the airport.
If you want to continue to Mysore you best take a pre-paid taxi. It will take 3 to 4 hours and be sure you have reserved a hotel with 24 hours check-in.

I don't think it is easy to find group tours from Mysore to Wayanad and further on. Obtaining train-tickets on such short notice will be difficult. So that leaves buses or hiring a car.
Buses are cheap but cramped. The cost for hiring a car with driver depends on the type of car and the distance, but for a small car it ill be around 3000 rs. a day.

By car it is no problem to travel from Ooty to Cochin in one day.

I tried to hire a taxi a few weeks ago. For an ac taxi they quoted me Rs12 per km. In addition to this they wanted Rs150 per hour waiting time. I decided to drive myself and stay in a nice hotel. Hotel cost Rs2300 per night, but all in all it was cheaper than using the taxi.
