Does India need English Teachers?

I wonder if you have realised how many indians are fluent English speakers? Because so many Indians speak excellent English (millions go go English medium schools), work teaching english will be either very hard to come by or very poorly paid.

Day care centres are widely available in big cities. It is not very expensive by even Indian middle class standards. For a 6 yr old it will be mostly afterschool activities.
Umm, yes they are, but - to the OP- many are glorified left luggage rooms. I am sure some will be good- and expensive.

An acquaintance's infant got severely malnourished in Mumbai at one of the lower rung places because the helper used to drink up all the milk.

There was a private nursery near where I used to live. A neighbour's daughter worked there. Plenty of horror stories about the way she was treated as an employee, but the kids seemed happy!

I would guess that India has so many English teachers that it may not be possible to get an employment visa. Teaching as a volunteer, though, especially in a rural situation, may be perfectly possible.

Hmm, actually, my information is likely outdated, and hearsay. Must be better options today.

'ATI TESOL or CELTA course. I have mixed emotions about the two institutions. ATI offers a 3 month internship, whereas CELTA offers a prestigious well known name.'
I'd say go for the ATI Tesol course, the 3 month internship is worth a lot more than the CELTA name. Really, CELTA is kind of the brand name everyone talks about, but as long as you have your qualification with a respected institute, like Trinity or ATI, it makes no difference to your employers (mine is with Trinity.) The thing is, as a newly qualified teacher with no experience it can be hard to find work, but the three-month internship will teach you as much, or more, than the course itself, and make it MUCH easier to get a job afterwards. They might even offer you a permanent position there.
India isn't the easiest place to get a job teaching English as such a high percentage of the population speak it as a native language, and the schools/organisations may prefer to employ Indian teachers rather than foreigners (I don't know for sure, but this is quite typical in English speaking countries.) Have you considered anywhere else in Asia? I taught in China for a year and it was amazing.
One more thing - I jacked in my whole civilized life and went off with a backback to teach English abroad, alone, terrified, and it was the best thing I have ever done. Six years later, I'm still loving it. So good luck - live your dream
