A different approach .....

A friend of mine was in a slump and decided to change his tactics. Started asking any lady on the street who caught his eye for a date ...... got quite a few rejections, one or two slaps, some hisses and venom at first .... and then BINGO! ... the girl of his dreams .... now married for 4 years.

Change in protocol is all that is needed sometimes!

Single in Delhi? I'd be like a pig in slop. Of course I'd also be teaching at a local college or university..... If you are young enough try to take a class at an Indian college. Are there any volunteer groups or hobby groups you can join? I know there is a ham radio club in Delhi (probably not too many women in it but you never know) and there are some dog and animal rescue groups (probably loaded with women volunteers).

Also, while younger Indians (including the women) can be pretty wild compared to 10-20 years ago don't discount an older woman who is divorced or a widow. There is an Hindi word for MILF but I have forgotten it. I know someone here who met a middle-aged Indian woman while he was working in Delhi and she is incredible--well educated and really beautiful.

Last, from what I can tell about 95 percent of Indian culture and society is devoted to getting married, having children, then getting your children married and nagging them to have grandchildren. This is not a bad thing, it is a culture which affirms what comes naturally to most people. Don't fight that. Many of the women you meet will be great and make excellent wives, mothers and lovers.

ETA: Hindi word for "matron" is Bibi.

Yep! I didn't think the original poster was looking for a "friend". Friends should be easy to make via the methods suggested on this thread. I just don't think that the original poster should worry about a relationship leading to marriage because it will likely be a good marriage. Lots of westerners (especially men but women too) these days are marriage-averse because of the high rate of failure of marriage and the expense of getting out of a bad one.

ETA: my (Indian) wife was my friend for about 5 years before we ever had a date.

You don't wanna know! It's vulgar, but now a part of everyday conversational use here in the USA.

Thumbs down

Hey..this is not the way

Why don't you try some more subtle ways of meeting people, girls, whatever: join a gym...some dance classes (latin? ) or other classes...a movie-rental place...some clubs or so, where you can hang out and meet people with the same interests, without making it so obvious that you are actually looking?

This is the way to go, not single-bars and other "western" concepts..
