Hi,
Have posted this elsewhere but didn't get any replies, so maybe this is the better forum.
I have a new Radio Walkman and want to tune it to receive BBC World Service -
Does anyone know the AM frequency?
Many TIA.

I think it was answered as well Annie. Anyway the BBC doesn't broadcast on AM in India it's on shortwave!

EDIT

I just noticed that in North West India you can get the BBC on medium wave on 1314 kHz

I carry a Sony shortwave band radio when I'm travelling.

I've never found BBC World Service transmissions on anything other than shortwave in India.

If you go to the BBC World Service site you will find the frequencies listed.

EDIT

Cross posted with cyberhippie. I've never picked it up on medium wave. I wonder where that's being transmitted from - Afghanistan??
What a long strange trip it's been!

I don't know what the situation is now but until a few years back you could get the BBC World service on Medium wave at night in Goa. The BBC had a transmitter off the coast of Oman which provided this service.

For the latest schedule and frequencies for anyone in Goa who wants to tune in on radio http://www.bbc.co.uk/cgi-bin/worldse...4%2d45&Tz=IN01

Even if the BBC was broadcasting on AM your chances of receiving it with a radio walkman would be very poor. The tuner in a radio walkman is mediocre to put it mildly. You would need a good quality radio.

I get excellent reception on Short Wave in Ooty, Tamil Nadu using a Sony ICFSW100 World Radio with the optional "washing line" aerial.

It has:

Phase locked loop digital FM / MW / LW / SW tuner
50 station presets
Preset / direct / manual / scan tuning
Sleep / standby timer
Single side band reception

So I have all the BBC, VOI and other frequencies pre-programmed and flick from on to the other as and when they move the frequency.
