Retire in India and live off interest payments?

I also use TransferWise occasionally and the only better/cheaper competitor I found, does not operate any longer. I would also recommend TransferWise.

M2I works for me so I'll stay with them even though the process is a bit convoluted.
Actually ICICI UK to ICICI India is better - if the UK end haven't frozen my account, invalidated my Id or changed my password without telling me.
Instant transfer (really - it's there by the time you log in to check) - costs 1 and rates about the same as M2I.
I get to it through my UK bank login but when I select Funds to India it asks if I want to debit my account or use a debit card - haven't tried a card but maybe you could do it without an ICICI account?
