Hi. We are relocating to India. We plan to bring our pet (small dog) from Germany to India.

1. Can someone let us know if they have done this before?
2. Any guidance on how to get the paperwork in Germany would be great, including how to find an (i) Authorized Vet, (ii) Authorized Government Authority, (iii) Etc.

Thank you,
Nikhil

Thank you. We have been abroad for over two years and transferring residence. The question is not about what India needs but how we can get the paperwork done in Germany. There seems to be limited information on that part unfortunately.

Hi,
My pet dogs are travelling with me from Switzerland to India since 12 years.
Because the rules changed in india on this matter it's not so easy now to take your dogs to India. You need a NOC (not objection certificate) from the Ministrty of agriculture in India to travell with your pets to India. It's a lot of paperworks and still rules seems to change frequently. As for now they ask me to enter India over New Dehli only and not over Mumbai.
First of all with a tourist visa there is no chance to get the NOC. If you have or get a resident permit for India then there is a chance. If you have or get the status of a resident permit let me know to help you furthure.

I am working on this for my two cats, but from the US. However, I think similar search terms apply.

Try looking for export of animals from Germany. It sounds weird, but that is how the US describes it. For us, the US Department of Agriculture and a USDA vet (very common) has to full out a US form for pet export and the Indian health certificate for import. Here are a few things I found in a fast search

Someone with some recent experience:

This is the US site, but they aggregate info for every country and give some general guidance on who to contact along with the EU health certificates, though you would need the India one.

Good luck! Share a picture of your pup in India!

In rural North Rhine Westphalia it's the district veterinary officer (Kreistierarzt) you need. You'll find him or her at the district health office (Kreisgesundheitsamt) when he or she isn't busy inspecting slaughterhouses or culling diseased livestock. Larger towns have their own Gesundheitsamt*.

*Don't sneeze there!
