Hello I would like to know if anyone is from the UK and has an Indian spouse. If so have they ever applied for a 2, 5 or 10 year visiting visa. We may need to go regularly to visit my parents who have some health issues. I can't get clear information from any website or helpline. It just says a visa can be issued if you have a reason to visit the UK regularly. Is having an English wife considered a good enough reason? Would I need to show proof of medical condition of my father?

Many thanks!!

Only needed to get shorter visas for my wife, although one of them was when my mum was rushed to hospital and plainly wouldn't be around much longer. Thankfully, the whole UK visa service was faster then.

My hunch is that the usual basic criteria apply. Show that you have somewhere to stay, that you are able to support yourselves, and that it looks like your Indian spouse would return to India. The last time we did this it was a pain in the neck, involving original house deeds, deposit certificates etc.

Thanks for the reply. We have got him a 6 month visa a few times and so are familiar with that but not about longer term multiple entry ones - the thing is you lose over 600 pounds if they refuse it but don't give clear information what is the criteria you must meet to be elegible. Tried calling there expensive helpline in the UK and got very poor replies and it finally cut before finishing the conversation twice. Also to email them an inquiry you have to pay more than 5 pounds but when I emailed them this inquiry last year when it was free they just told me to check the website. There is no contact for VFS agency for UK visas any more either email or phone. I tried the embassy but they referred me to the expensive helpline.
So am quite frustrated with this so called service!!
