3. Lady pays her 10 euros
4. Umasol agrees
5. Umasol leaves behind about 60 euro worth of things in order to accommodate the blanket
6. Umasol flies home
7. Umasol is busy with family and work and has not sent the blanket to the guy yet
8. Indian lady starts getting impatient, disappointed and starts threatening her with legal action if blanket does not reach her friend immediately.
9. Umasol is upset that Indian lady is so ungrateful and some emotional(?) mails are sent.
10. Umasol tries to involve some other Indian people but the situation worsens(threats of recording phone conversation etc).
11. Now Umasol is thoroughly upset and wants to teach the Indian lady a lesson and not send the blanket to the friend at all. wants to send it back to Indian lady and demand her 60 euro work of things in exchange.
Yes nice resume indeed! only the 11 is just having my things back which are value of 60euros and in this my lonely planet guidebook which travelled my India twice and which i really do not wish to stay at her place, also out of emotional aspects...can go to any ONG in Delhi or where it would be nicely used...with good and positive energy...i am generous but when people as her begin to count any rupee then yes i count also...and we could add 12. stress and inconveniences got also up to family, and also i had no time to take care about me and urgent research about possible bacteria from Ganga (as advised by Indian person of Varanasi) and also tetanos, and about this she does not care either...and means she does not care if anything happens to me...and if anything important of health matters this is important to my family too...as said yesterday an Indian person was worried for me and other are too, Indian and non, because possible ganga bacteria infection and she does not care, her blanket is more important....

I don't get the story, but anyway: a) I endorse the 'deliver blanket- tell Indian woman- cut off Indian woman- forget incident' advice given by many and b) this story reminds me of two jokes. Not posting them because I am a sensitive sob.

I thought I had understood this much when I started reading and I would like to ask the OP:
Why on earth would someone be so stupid to take something home for a total stranger and leave lots of things behind that one bought for oneself? How crazy is that?

And why would a 'couchsurfer' go to a guesthouse anyway? She apparently lives in that place - what does she have to do in a guesthouse?

Somehow it all doesn't make sense.
Yes i agree...this happens...because i am stupid and generous...a special stupid species of human being i agree...yes it is crazy...i have only excuses that i did a large extended journey all alone as single woman traveller and from one date, changing place each day, and arranging everything so at the end i was exhaused and possibly lost common sense, in that helped by the so called woman couchsurfer...
i earn all responsibility of this to myself only but i shall solve it now to the best possible...

i was in the guesthouse...not her...and i did leave the guesthouse because she insisted so much, i was reluctant because the guesthouse is such nice and she was persuasive as for other things...

Yes i agree all this is nonsense

but what she does is really non human and non sense

good life lesson anyway!!!

question is how do I solve this now?

Yes. And I should have been less exhausted and followed my first intuition not to meet her and not to take the parcel...first thought best thought.

This 'like' thing remains a mystery to me.

So I ask the OP why on earth she takes something home for a stranger and leaves her own stuff behind - and then the OP 'likes' my post.

I think you need to petition the Indian embassy in Belgium. Then you need to write to the ministry of foreign affairs in Belgium and ask them to handle this matter at a diplomatic level. In the face of it, Belgium must threaten to withdraw its ambassadors to India. This is a serious matter. A blanket is involved. Also, if you recall, Devyani Khobragade got into trouble due to underpaying her domestic servant. What are the minimum wages in your country? Write to the labour ministry as well. S Sudhakar Reddy is the current general secretary of the communist party of India. He should be approached as well.

If you don't do this, some day you will have someone visit your country from India. And just as Tony Jaa asked in Tom Yum Goong, someone will ask your countrymen "Where are my ..err.. blankets?"

How about starting a "Masala Chai and Chat" thread with these jokes.

Once this thread has worked itself out I plan to edit it and publish it as a novella The Hostess from Hell.

As for Tom Yum Goong, I had to look it up.
I thought arguments between Belgians and persons of other nationality were settled by un coup de chicotte.

She sounds like a piece of work doesn't she? I'm quite curious about her too, seeing as we live in the same city.

Umm, you might see a new post in the 'joke of the day' thread soon.

But no jokes about Leopold II's Belgium and the Congo. Conrad's 'Heart of Darkness,' horrifying and grisly as it is, is nothing compared to the sickening reality.

Waow i am really ok (hope all find a good end at the end for me) to take this as a story and as novel...and to bring up more useful details for this field...i do writing also...first I do need to sort it out...and yes I am now activating all my high level or high hearted contacts in India because they are all worried that such a "celebrity" like me could not enter again India and that they would deeply miss me and that it would be a disaster for them if because of this cruel lady they could not meet me again...so it seems we could develop the subject...and I have indeed contacts with the Indian embassy, i could tell about the lady...she will be well known after all that...she might need a visa also to come back Belgium...a complaint would also prevent her from going to Europe...hope she would be wise...i plan to send her by phone all the willing persons who want me back to India and who do have some kind of "power" be it the peace and heart power...i should also manage to be less in the ego lol...maybe they could buy her a new blanket, to the poor greedy rich lady, so she could send a more beautiful one (this one is really of low price and low taste...) and help her choosing better...

because some people are addicted to drama and to creating their own suffering.

what theyyamdancer said.

"i plan to send her by phone all the willing persons who want me back to India and who do have some kind of "power" be it the peace and heart power..."

are you for real?

all this bullshit over a blanket? wow. talk about a First World Problem.
