nonsense, you can hammer whatever you want. either the landlord won't care, or they may ask you to fill in the holes.

I always go at my walls with a bucket of spackle before I move out just to be safe. You'll never know I was heeerree....

I wish it was like that. Couple of years ago when I rented out my apartment in India, I got a lawyer to draw a comprehensive contract with all do's and dont's.

I had him specifically include the clause where the tenant couldn't drill any holes in the wall.

When the guy finally moved out, I was left with the job of filling out holes all over the flat.

I guess not living in India makes it difficult for me to go & inspect the property. I wasn't there to collect the keys either at the time of handover, or I could have held back on the deposit, or some part of it.

So my experience definitely doesn't reflect the majority. Or perhaps it does and tenants just do not care. Perhaps the landlords don't care either. Hard to say.

Anyway, I have since then decided to leave the flat vacant.
