Hello everyone!

I sent out a letter with India Post on 7 November to Germany but it still hasn't arrived yet and I starting getting worried.

Does any of you had similar experiences with such long delivery time?

Thanks in advance!

Have you checked tracing?

Unfortunately I only sent it out as a standard letter. I paid like 25 rupees for the stamps. I don't think that tracking option is available for standard mail or am I mistaken?

If you didn't use *REGISTERED* airmail, it's just like you dropped your letter somewhere on the street. And gifted your beautiful stamp to some stranger, just to his (her) curiosity.

(in simple - in India, ALWAYS use REGISTERED (air)mail. and, yes, it's coming with tracking)

Sorry for me being ignorant - so this basically means that I can be sure now that it won't arrive at all?

It's tacking one-two(maximum) weeks. So... so far if didn't arrive - 99.9% it will never happen.

They do arrive but they often take months to do so. Of course, in India I always take air-mail letters to the post office and have them cancelled in my presence. I even used to do this when air mail to Europe cost 90np.
In the 1970s and even up to the 1990s letters from India to Germany and vice versa took less than a week to be delivered.

Ankit, it means, that a person who wishes to post an air-mail letter to the Post Office of General Post Office level, and get it stamped (which is called getting post cancelled) by the official posted at Main Counter. It assures that the packet will now start moving from that point...

Thanks. That's as opposed to just dropping it in a post box, I assume? That's a very counter-intuitive term.
