Hello friends,

I am visiting Hyderabad with my family next month (Nov 11-15).

I have prepared a list of places to visit.

1. Ramoji film city
2. Golkonda fort (sound and light show)
3. Salar Jung museum
4. Birla planetorium
5. Lumbini park - laser show
6. Husainsagar lake
7. Snow world (a must - my kids want it)
8. Nehru zoological park or Hyderabad national park?
9. ? NTR garden

I have four and a half days. I want to keep aside half day for shopping. Can I fit all this in 3 to 4 days or will it be too hectic?

I was planning to visit Nehru park, however my friend suggested Hyderabad national park. Now I am confused.
Is NTR garden a must?
Am vegetarian; is there any restaurant that serves vegetarian version of the famous Hyderabadi biryani? How is Paradise restaurant?
I want to buy dresses for my wife and daugther. Can anybody suggest good quality shops?
I am staying at Hotel Mercure, Abids.

Thank you,

Sachin

Your itineraray seems a little too much for 4.5 days, especially with kids. Being festive season the traffic will not be less than usual. The Nehru Zoo itself may take a whole day, if it is anything like it was a few years ago. That leaves just 3 days for the rest, AND shopping. So I am sure you have to sacrifice one or two items from your list. Perhaps you can prioritze and decide later what to skip.

Shops galore! Endless mals just about everywhere! You should merely have to know what you want and how much you want to spend, the shopkeepers will take care of the rest:-)) Since you are in abids area, just walk around Meena Bazar and that area, if that choice does not suit you, try any mal.

Agree with Iseeking.

We tried Paradise last time around and found it overrated. My wife did not like the chicken version and I simply hated the veg one. The veg version is simply plain yellow rice with veg bits thrown in.

You can try out the restaurant attached to Hotel Taj Mahal at Abids...probably a few meters away from your hotel. Amazing Andhra style veg food!

Hyderabad itinerary

Golconda Fort Takes almost a full day... even if you are left with time . You may not be left with any energy to do anything else . Same is the case with NEHRU Zoological Park .

SALARJUNG Museum , NTR garden are a must. It can be done in 3-4 days if you have dedicated Transport like TAXI . Vegetarian Restaurants are plenty .
TAJ at ABIDS , Shanbagh at Basheerbagh, Chutneys at Himayatnagar , .Due to Holiday season Traffic will be a botheration as already suggested .

Thank you iseeking, metalmann and APSINGIKAR for your prompt advise.

Point taken. I (rather my family) will trim my itinerary.

Thank you for the list of vegetarian restaurants. We will try these out.

I will post again after my visit.

Just One advice: Either Double the time in Hyderabad or Halve the list of places. I am a local I can and do still spend a Day EACH in the Salarjung Museum, the Ramoji Filmcity, The Golkonda and the Hyderabad Zoo.

I didnt see charminar in your list.A visit to Hyderabad is not complete without visiting charminar.

And while you are at Golconda, do visit the Qutub Shahi tombs nearby. It is worth the effort.

The shops in Abids and Koti are good for shopping. Also the area near Tolichowki has lots of shops only for ladies.

Yes Paradise is overrated.Getting a good veg version of the famous hyderabadi biriyani is quite difficult. You can try Hotel Alpha in Secunderabad opposite the Railway station
Hope you and your family have fun!

Thanks narendra.d and razzaqfccf

I see I have to radically alter my plan. It will depend on kids. I wanted to them to see Birla planetarium. I have taken them to Nehru planetarium at Mumbai, so I think I will have drop the planetarium at Hyderabad.
I will reach Hyderabad in the morning by a sleeper coach after an overnight journey. Much will depend on how fresh we are and how we utilize the day we reach Hyderabad.

Thanks a lot friends.

I will surely give you the feedback.
