I will be travelling to Hyderabad in March by Kacheguda Express.
I plan to spend two days in Hyderabad.

Is there any good hotels near the railway station or which place is safe for women tourists?

I plan to visit the following places
1.Golconda Fort
2.Salarjung Museum
3.Charminar
4.Falaknama Palace
5.Hussain Sagar Lake

So what will be the best mode of travelling. Will it be auto or rented car? Also will it be good if I go for the city tours that are govt undertaken?
Warm Regards
Soma

There is a Hotel by the name Tourist Hotel, just a minute from the station by walk. Don't know the tariff, but a very old and reputed place that has been completely refurbished not so long ago. Will also be convenient for many of the places that you want to visit.

The one place that you seemed to have missed, Ramoji Film city if that interests you, but its going to take a full day and is out of the city.

Yes Ramoji film city may interest you but would not be possible in your 2 days plan. See if this helps : http://makrandtraveldiary.com/ramoji-film-city/

If you want to trek till top of Golconda then reach early in evening as it entry to top closes around 5. Also near hussain sagar Lake there are two gardens Lumbini Park and NTR garden. There is a laser show in evening at Lumbini Park (don't remember the timings but somewhere around 7:30)

Average cab price for 12 hours (120 kms) is around Rs. 1700 /
You can hire one for a whole day.. But Ramoji will consume one whole day so plan accordingly !
Hiring a cab will save your time/hassle bargaining for the autos which could be a tough job ........
Good Luck...

AP State museum in the public garden complex is a good thing to see as well. There is also a small museum in the Birla Planetarium complex.
Please not that Salarjung museum is closed on Fridays and national holidays.
Golconda fort has a laser show as well.
if you are going to tankbund, might as well visit the Birla temple and the planetarium complex.

I had to strike out Ramoji Film City because of time constraints.......but after seeing the photos in the link that you provided I wish I could go there.

And thank you for so much detail info about Hussani Sagar Lake......I think that Buddha statue is in Lumbini Park, so wont be missing that.how is NTR garden? Are the two parks adjacent to each other or is there any jetty service to go from one park to another?

Thank you for so much info...have a great day

Thank you Ashish...

This was a major doubt of mine, regarding what type of transportation (cab/auto) to go for.
I stay in Bangalore and here the autowallas simply fleece the tourists so I wanted to know whether the scenario is same in HYd or not...in that case a hired cab is the best thing to go for.

Thank you so much

I will try to include AP State museum.

I dont think time will permit the Birla temple and planetarium.
Is there any city tours undertaken by APSTC?

Thank you....have a wonderful day

The Buddha Statue is in the middle of the lake and is accessible by a ferry. The 2 parks are opposite each other and personally one of them is enough (Lumbini).

All I can say is that the Autowallahs here can make anyone else in BLR look like saints. So watch out or book a cab for a day.

There are day tours conducted by AP tourism and may be a cost effective and fast way of seeing a few places that may otherwise take a longer time or cost more in Cab fares. APTDC has a good website, look thru it.

have a nice trip to Hyderabad. If you are a foodie, don't miss out on the excellent food that you can have here. Having tasted Biryani in a few places in BLR, I can say what I can get here even in small hole-in-the-wall cheap places seems better many times over. Paradise in Secunderabad, (Madina or Pista House near Charminar - may not be comfortable for a single female), Hyderabad House that has many branches are good places.

Birla temple is right near the tankbund. And you don't have to go to the planetarium show, just the museum attached to it. There is also a science museum, like the one in bangalore, which is hands-on.

Hyd tour packages are here http://aptdc.in/tourpack/hyderabad.php

Nice logo, btw.. and if you want additional help, you can send a PM..

Oh, and hotels, there are plenty of hotels on the street leading away from the kacheguda station. Once you walk out of the station, keep to the right lane (the left lane goes towards chader ghat, you don't want to go there) and you will meet tourist hotel and tourist lodge in like 3 minutes And depending on your patience, there are about 10 hotels in that lane (straight road towards kacheguda crossroads).
No need to take any auto/bus as you come out of the station, if you intend to stay in that area. And it is convenient for you to get to most places, except golconda and faluknama, which are out of the city.
The rest of your original itinerary can be done on a single day with public transport, if you choose.
