Dear IMers,
I am arriving Hyderabad for a office tour on 27th May and stay there for 8 days. I shall be free at 5 pm, and planning for sight-seeing in the city after that.
I want to visit Golkunda Fort, Charminar, Lumbini Park, Salarjung Museum, Birla Mandir, Chowmahalla Palace, Falaknama Palace. Are they remains open during evening? Any other suggestion?
What is the mode of communication? I want to know the public transports etc. I shall be stay near Park Lane, Secunderabad. Can you suggest budget accommodation nearby?
I have only one off day on Sunday, and I've decided to visit Ramoji Flim City then. Is there any public transport available from Secunderabad to Ramoji Flim City?
Thanks in advance.

From park lane, find the bus stop of either patny or paradise. Paradise is better. you can take 8+ alphabet buses like 8A, to go to charminar or afzalgunj. Salarjung museum is right after the bridge, to the left, so get off at afzalgunj and walk across the bridge, take a left, and walk on until you reach the place. And to reach charminar, just keep walking straight(instead of left after the bridge), for about 1 km or so, and you'll see glimpses of old city and charminar.

Charminar can only be viewed from outside for free, and you can get a ticket to go upto the first floor. Salarjung museum, ticket to go inside. Evenings are a problem, the museum takes 2-3 hours of liesurely viewing.

FRIDAY is a holiday for both museum and charminar. If you still would like to go, just to see from outside, prepare yourself to deal with crowded situations.

Right beside charminar is a mosque that is beautiful to look at. Mecca Masjid is its name.

Birla Mandir, Lumbini Garden, are around the tank bund. You can get on the same bus, and get off near liberty. You should be able to see the temple on the hill, and the park itself is behind the secretariat building. No problems visiting in the evenings.

Falaknuma palace, Golconda fort, chowmohalla palace are mostly outside the city. You can get to golconda fort from Mehdipatnam, and 5 or 49 series of buses go from the bus stop near YMCA. the palaces are actually hotels, so visiting them might be a problem for you. The fort has laser shows, you can check the timings and language if you google.

For Ramoji film city, contact the AP Tourism Numbers, they conduct tours and you might be able to pick a time suitable for you.

You might find some information in this thread as well.
