Hi All

We are a group of friends planning to travel to Himachal in 2nd week of Feb 2019(8th-15th).

We are hoping to do a 4-5 day trek in around Manali\Kasol, and then relax for the remaining days in Tosh or Kheerganga.

We were looking at different trek options available for us during this period, and could see Chanderkheni Pass as one option.

Has anyone attempted CP in feb? If so please do help us, by sharing what the conditions would be like , and duration it'll take to complete this trek.

Appreciate all the help!

Thanks -- Shreyas

Trekking is Feb is not recommended at all. We had quite a few cases in recent years where people went to trek in off season and suddenly weather worsened and they were stuck. Please do keep in mind that we here do not have rescue facilities like you would get in Europe or US. Also Feb is "almost" peak winter now and it snows periodically during the whole month.

Thanks for the advice, LOWKEY_!

Yes, even we are aware of the risks that comes up with doing a trek during off season, but due to various reasons we do not have any other period when we can travel.

We are also interested in hiring a guide who has experience in doing these treks in Off season, which might help us out a lot.

Also, based on research got to now Indrahar pass can be considered as a doable trek in Feb.

If Anyone can share their experience doing IP in February will be helpful for us to create a plan.

Thanks -- Shreyas

Indrahara in winter is not normally doable. Experienced trekkers, can take a chance at it, if snow conditions are manageable and weather forecast seems clear.
Assuming you are newbies (by your question, pardon me if I'm wrong), would suggest, forget Indrahara. Moreover, it's far away from Kullu area.

You can explore multiple small hikes in Manali/ Kasol area - Patalsu Peak, Anjani Mahadev, Malana, Kheerganga.
If in-case, there isn't much snow when you're there, and forecast is clear, and you're looking for a challenging route - Chanderkhani Pass - assume 4-5 days to complete this in winter.

Alternatively, can go GHNP, and several options like Rangthar, Shilt Hut, Lambri top etc.
If okay for some more road travel, Prashar lake, Kamrunag options also open up.
Learning to be silent.

The time of February is not so appropriate for trekking. You will find the weather changes i.e unpredictable snowfall at that time which makes your trek difficult. But you can visit the nearby Manali places such as Anjani Mahadev, Malana, Kheerganga, etc.

Thanks all for valuable inputs!

We have decided on attempting Pataslu peak in 2nd week of Feb.

Based on the various websites, this trek should be open during this period. However, we would like to consider any inputs from others who have attempted this trek in Feb, to understand more about the weather condition etc.

If anyone can share any guide contacts around manali\solang for this trek will be great.

Thanks

This peak has an altitude above 4000 m. I highly doubt this would be possible in Feb.

Yeah, should definitely keep plan-B in-case Patalsu is difficult - depends on snow-conditions, so can only know at last moment (high chances that guide might not recommend going for it)

Yes We have thought about attempting Churdhur peak in case pataslu isnít accessible.Any info for churdhur trek is also appreciated.
All though most of the sources say pataslu could be attempted throughout the year, it ultimately depends on the conditions there when we arrive:
Any reliable guides around Manali would be helpful.

Thanks

Based on my experience with snow at Churdhar in March end this year, I would say it would be pretty difficult, if not impossible in Feb.
