Hi, guys.
There have been a lot of threads about the Kheerganga trek but none have touched on the issue of settlements and tents being removed as per a court order in June.
Can anyone that has been there since then shed some light on the current situation? Has lodging in the Ashram been banned as well? Is camping allowed, and if so, will Tosh or Kasol be a better place to arrange for the camping material and porters?
Also, I'm looking for some information regarding the Bunbuni Pass trek from Kheerganga. From the little information available on the internet, it seems a guide is prerequisite. Will a guide be found at Kheerganga or would one have to be arranged in Tosh?

Thanks in advance!

I am heading to Kheer Ganga amongst a few other places last week of August, so I have talked to a few people to get to know about the ground reality since I heard about the settlement ban around Kheer Ganga. Word is that they have removed all sorts of commercial establishments/settlements/tents from around the river but you are still free to bring your own tent and camp there but littering is absolutely prohibited because that's why the ban was imposed in the first place.

You don't need a guide on this route. As long as you can find a tent and sleeping bag to rent from somewhere, you can camp overnight as per the information I have received. This also means you will have to bring your own food. You can either make do with dry fruits or bring a camphor stove if you want to do some light cooking yourself which is exactly what I am planning to do.

Just got back from kheerganga. Camping establishments are still active so not sure what all the fuss was about.
Also, I would still recommend a guide to anyone proceeding to bunbuni pass. Cheers
