Hello,we have planned a trip to Spiti valley from 27th September to 3rd October. Our itinerary is the following.

26th:Kolkata-Lucknow(by flight)-Ambala(by train)

27th: Ambala-Reckong Peo

28th:Reckong Peo-Nako-Gue-Tabo

29th:Tabo-Dhankar-Kaza(i have excluded pin from my itineary)

30th:Kaza-Langja-Komick-Ki-Losar/Kaza

1st Oct:Kaza-Chandrataal(planning to Stay in camp)

2nd Oct:Chandrataal-Manali-by bus -> Delhi

Now,i have few questions regarding my itineary.

1)Is this itinerary more or less ok?

2)Will there be any significant chance of weather problem in my whole itineary(like cloudy sky or rain)? Will i be able to get clear views throughout the whole day?

3)How much time it will take to reach Reckong Peo directly from Ambala by car? We will start from Ambala at about 11am on 27th. We will have our own hired car.

4)Is there any chance of getting snowfall anywhere?

5)I have planned Chandrataal night staying mainly for star gazing. So,will the stay be worth? Also,we will not have our own camp.I heard that there are some permanent camps at Chandrataal which can be hired for night? Is it true? If yes, then how much is the approximate cost?

6)How much time it takes from Chandrataal to Manali? We have HRTC bus booking at 5 in the afternoon. So we need to get down at Manali before 5pm.

7)From where the Reo Purgill and Indrasan peaks are seen? It will be fine to get the approximate location.

8)Lastly,Can you tell me about the weather of Spiti valley in Late September? I am not getting it anywhere on net. They are giving update upto mid September.

Your plan seems okay, the journeys will be hectic to say the least.

Ambala to Recong Peo might take anywhere between 10 -14 hrs depending on your style of driving and the number of stops you do on the way. Try starting early if possible as you will move slower after dusk.

Whether will be good. Rainfall and cloud depends on luck. Snowfall in September, NAH! You might get snow in Kunzum if your lucky.

Chandrataal to Manali is 5 hours approx, give or take. You should be good for the 5 pm bus. You will get privately run camps in Chandrataal. The stay at Chandrataal will be worth.

You might need to have an alternate plan for reaching Delhi. From September end on wards snowfall could be expected which could result in closure of Kunzum pass. Please check about the weather once you are in Reckong Peo / Tabo / Kaza.

Are you sure? Because I found in net that Kunzum remains open on 1st week of October.

I've almost similar plan but in the 1st week of October. Closure due to snowfall at Kunzum in September is very unlikely but yes you can't take weather god for granted. I've kept a buffer day at Manali. Least to say is that your plan is tight in all aspect.
