I see that a lot of members want to club their vaishnodevi trip with dalhousie-kangra region this winter and everyone wants to see snow. So experts of this region please list the places where one can experience snow in this region.

^Kalatop and Khajjiar can be places where one can find snow.
In Kangra region one can always view the snow covered dhauladhars.
But since kangra area is pretty flat, you wont be able to get any snow around, unless one climbs over 2500 meteres.

Billing is a good option, if u are lucky you will spot snow there.

It is a bit cumbersome. Rail travel between Jammu and Pathankot, and then a four hour bus journey to Dalhousie or Dharamsala. Perfectly doable for back-packers (what is it that the back-packers cannot do?), families will have to decide.

Hi Ashwin,

Are you going to Vaishnav Devi in near future?

I am going there on 7th Feb and will goto Manali via Dalhousie. Getting snow is on Luck . This is third time I am going in Winter, Last year we did not find sonw at Dalhousie, but last year winter was not good. Last to Last year we found lot of Snow and Snowfall at VaishnavDevi it self. It continued for two days, we thought to visit Patanitop and Srinagar but due to heavy snow fall that highway was closed.

This year will visit Vaishnavdevi after that will goto Manali via Delhousie. I will update you once I will back on 18th Feb.

Regards
Rushi

It is a bit cumbersome but you can enjoy a Toy Train Ride with beautiful Mountain Range. This time I am going directly to Dalhousie from Jammu so let me see, where are we gaining.

I am not travelling to these parts in the near future.I just opened this thread because a lot of new threads have opened up with similar queries.
BTW are there any other places for fresh snow? Like the chamba region or something?
And there is a western disturbance approaching between 5-8th feb so chances of snowffall are high in this period.
