hey guys,

hopefully some one can help me on this one; Im planning to start my Enfield trip trough spiti valley in a weeks time and was wondering if its possible to cross over from rotang to tandi to udaipur to kilar and then go to Arthal OR traila over sach pass?
Some maps say its only walkable others claim its even asphalted, did anyone try to do it this way on enfield , if yes, whats the situation with the road condition, petrol and accommodation?

thanx in advance guys!

I know that it has been done on motor bike and is well worth the effort. they people you need to speak to are at Orchard Huts in the Chamba Valley. they can give you exact details of the road at the moment. it is being improved by the government at the moment so that it can become the quickest overland route to Ladakh for military vehicles, but apparently progress is slow and it is definitely not completely finished yet. The Sach Pass crosses into one of the remotest valleys in the whole of India (Pangi Valley) and this is one of the reasons why it is worth doing the crossing here.

You should stop and stay at Orchard Huts before you cross the pass, because it is lovely there and they will give you good advice and can provide Jeep support if you need it. Nitin Dhami who is one of the owners is an experienced biker in the himalayas, as is his cousin Manu. They will give you expert and completely honest advice. they are at wwwhimalayanlapcom. Tell them Mr Tom reccomended you to them.
Enjoy

If you intend to go to Sach Pass from Spiti, you need to cross Kunzum Pass (not Rohtang) and then Batal - choadhara - chatru - gramphu - sissu - Tandi - Udaipur - Tindi - Killar - Sach pass and then going down to Satrundi side towards Chamba.

Sach Pass is currently open and it's open for vehicular traffic for atleast last 3 years. Even HRTC runs service between Chamba and Killar. Sach Pass is the remotest pass in whole HP and gradient specially in Killar side is really killing. Avoid monsoon as Chamba region expeirence heavy rainfall during monsoon. Call Pangi Subdivision for details of road status. Petrol pump most probably you would find in Tandi in Lahaul and in Chamba, no where in between. Don't expect any hotel in the region, but you could get PWD and Forest RH in many places like Tissa, Bairagarh, Killar, Cherry, Tindi, Udaipur.

Cheers!!

Hello! So, as far as I understood distance between Kilar and Arthal is paved and can be done on motorbike? Eicher Road Atlas depicts this part of the road as a walking trail. Would appreciate any certain info. Thanks.
