hi members

will be driving from hyderabad to kullu in first week of june in a scorpio with my saint bernard. Just want to know if anyone can give me a day wise halts with hotels that accept a pet. I dont want to use the usual guest rooms that i can book by virtue of my profession..want to travel this time ..like a traveller!. The crux is that my co traveller ..a saint bernard should be comfortable. The costs is not a problem..the comfort of my fellow traveler..a saint bernard is !.. all she wants is an AC room at the end of the day.Any one can suggest an itenary..i have eleven days to complete this trip .

The major problem that you would have is hotels that will accept a pet. Please check the list provided by ananda to see if there are pet friendly hotels in the route that you plan to take.

The usual guest rooms that you can book I think would be accepting the pet.

I have had problems with petvacations about five years ago, in that some listed-at-the-time hotels said (on the phone) that pets were not allowed (Hyderabad to Delhi drive and back).

Advise use with caution, call up and confirm. If last minute hiccups a tip in a non-posh (but ac room) hotel will help.

The Jabalpur- Bhopal-Delhi route is an alternative provided you want to go visit the marble rocks etc (which I doubt, with a dog), otherwise stick to the Nagpur-Bhopal-Delhi national highway. I have done this comfortably in two days a few times, roughly 1500km, with night halts and some sightseeing at Bhopal or Shivpuri (that on the Jabalpur-Delhi stretch) which was another moderately enchanting place.

Does the odd-even rule apply to outstation private cars in Delhi? I dunno, but keep toll receipts etc as proof you have just arrived in Delhi and not been living with a Hyderabad registration for a long time. Unless, of course, you have a route in mind that bypasses the city. (If so, do share with me. I hate driving through Delhi or stopping there for a couple of days)

It does. So, you cannot cross delhi on certain dates when the scheme is in force. Oh wait, you can if you're on a bike, or a car driven by a woman, or a VIP number plate car, or .... never mind, this'll get political.

I have driven about six times..from south to north..and on each occassion i have never touched delhi..i bypass it every time. The odd even rule applies on every one.I have an HR number plate and my profession gives me additional edge of toll exemptions and checking free journey at all nakas . Well ..having stayed in usual guest rooms on each occassion ..i am kind of bored. So just thought of staying in hotels this time. But if i dont find pet friendly hotels..no problems...i have the usual guest rooms as part of backup plan !

About the route..here it is..if it is from hyd(which has been four out of six times)..i take my first halt at Deolali(hyd- solapur- ahmednagar- deolali). From there via ujjain-KotÓ to jaipur.Third day via neem ka thana take detour towards rohtak..hit ambala GT road..via ropar..enter himachal..reach Hamirpur and stay for the night.Next day..reach manali.

If its from pune..essentially the same route..but till jaipur..take the mumbai- ahemdabad route !

i had done once via nagpur bhopal route..but the trucks density on the route ate into the time frame..so i discovered the road less frequented and travelled.Plus the scenenic beauty is better vis a vis via bhopal delhi route..and delhi eats into travel time big time

In my signature is a report of Sept end last year - drive from Hyderabad to Jaipur in 2.5 days, via Nagpur route. It'd take the same time till Del. Hyde Ahmadnagar is not good surface.
It may change your mind. In Sagar I'd recommend hotel Deepali.

with all due regards..any surface is good for tubeless tyres with nitrogen..provided the tyres are in their prime stages. But what concerns me about the choice of routes is whether my backup plan will work or not..so i prefer a route that keeps me close to my back up plan. I am not trying to contradict your vast experience.. but i would prefer a route that gives me a chance of just barging in and asking for an accomodation from fellow professionalists in case of an emergency...if your route gives me that advantage..i will follow it.

@vaibhav..its not about the time frame.its not about which route gets me to manali earlier..i am a son in law of manali.. so essentially after my halt at jaipur.. i drive through ..to manali..cos i know roads of himachal ..in and out. Its more about travelling this time like a traveller..and enjoying heritage of places enroute.. i just want to delve in beauty of atulya bharat this time ..like you stalwarts.. and not zip past the cities enroute. Thats why i said..i have eleven days at disposal.. but i am usually used to zoom past ..to reach my home( err.. inlaws) at himachal.. its my second home. I thought i will gain by all of you stalwarts experience ..of what i miss each time...its not about a race to finish better
regards
