Hi All
Requesting help from all you experts

I am planning to do a kinnaur Trip in march Last week - from March 27 to Apr 3 . It will be me , husband and our 10 year old.

Only our flights to and from are booked and rest is still up in the air
we are thinking to book a car but look for hotels and as we reach - is that doable for this period?

Key focus is relax and play in snow , I am wondering between kinnaur Vs Jalori pass.Which one is more scenic? and where we will definitely get snow?

I have worked out 2 very rough options - pls give me your views over each , what we can do once we are there and ofcourse any other plan we can make?

also suggest places we can stay enroute , we like clean rooms with attached toilets , posh amenities are not needed If you have contact numbers - that will be wonderful

option 1
=======
27 Mar - reach Chandigarh around 11 - start driving , try and reach Rampur /Narkanda - stay over
28 march - reach Kalpa
29 Stay at Kalpa
30 Kalpa to sangla Sangla
31 Stay at Sangla - try for chitkul
1 April -Sangla to Narkanda
2 April - Narkanda to Chandigarh
3 April - Fly back

Option 2
=======
27 Mar - reach Chandigarh around 11 - start driving , try and reach Rampur /Narkanda - stay over
28 March - Cross Jalori pass reach Shoja
29 March -Shoja
30 March - Shoja
31 March - Go down to tirthan
1 Apr -Tirthan
2 Apr - Reach Chandigarh
3 April - Fly back

Kinnaur is incomparable, stunning views with snow-capped himalayas himalayas so near, trust me you will not believe your eyes

Accomodations

Hotel Bushehr Regency
Rampur(HPTDC Hotel)
Double bed economical room at 1300

Hotel Kinner Kailash Kalpa
HPTDC hotel
Tariff around
1600 to 1800 rupees
You may not book it online as it opens officially in April so book it on phone

01786-226159
Manager Bhagat Ram
09805765207

HPTDC Hotels are the best accomodation option at economical rates

It will be better to stay at Chitkul instead of Sangla and Hotel Rupin River view in Raksham is a good option to stay

You may look at my other post for cab details

Cheers

hanks Everybody for your insights - we had a fantastic trip in Kinnaur region ... The Actual itinerary turned out to be

27 Mar - reached Chandigarh around 11 - started driving , Reached Jhakri around 6:45 .. stayed in Hotel Mahesh. Can easily recommend for an overnight stay

28 march - reached Kalpa - stayed at Apple Pie (Mukesh) - excellent views .. spent the eve walking around

29 march - did a day trip for Nako ...fanstastic views ... around 10-11 hours with enough stops for photos and admiring views took packed lunch which was good since no hotels were seen open

30 March - did the Suside Point , skipped Roghi village since we had done that before .. did a little walking around ... and moved to Rakcham , hotel Apple Pie (Aman) - went for a easy walk around the hotel

31 March - Morning did a day trip for Chitkul ... enjoyed amazing views and snow fights ...
Evening -went to a near by snowy place in Rakcham and played in snow till hearts content

1 April -Sangla to Fagu - stayed in HPTDC Apple Blossom , the views will be killer in falls season , in this season they were good
2 April -Fagu - relaxed in hotel . Did not step out of the room )

3 April - Fly back

All in all a wonderful trip - This year there is very minimal snow and Even in chitkul we had to cross river to get in actual snow

Mukesh had arranged for driver - Saleem Bhai 9805211177. Excellent driver with good knowledge of area. He is from Bilaspur and drives mainly in upper himachal. Will heartily recommend . He has a good in condition Innova with bucket seats

Mukesh was ofcourse very helpful and will definetely recommend him for any one who wants to do Kinnaur /Spiti etc

Thanks anyways - this trip helped me convince my husband that long drives are not always bad so now I am sure we will do many more trips exploring the himalayas .. Spiti and Ladakh are next targets so I am sure I will back with more questions. Do let me know if I can help with any more details
