Hello Hikers,

I plan to do the Kheerganga trek and I have the following itinerary:

Oct-1 - night - Leave Delhi - Reach Chandigarh early morning (like 5 am)
Oct-2 - Catch first bus to Kullu - Change Bus from Kullu to Manikaran (NIGHTSTAY)
Oct-3 - Head early morning to Barsheni and start the trek to Kheerganga (NIGHSTAY)
Oct-4 - local sightseeing / start descent back to Kullu (NIGHTSTAY)
Oct-5 - If time and pocket permit, to Manali
Oct-6 - Back to Delhi by late night

Please suggest your views on the itinerary. I know it's a quick one but we boys are okay. Which of these NIGHTSTAYs can be avoided?

I need the experienced members to share their inputs on the below parameters:

1) Accommodation options (we'd like to camp...the rented ones) for nights in Manikaran / Kheerganga

2) Road condition

3) Is this is a good time?

4) Will I see SNOW?

5) Cost

6) Any special mentions / requirements / advises.

Please reply asap because I need to plan in advance. Happy and Safe Travelling!

Hey Sankky, can I give you some suggetion?

1)Keeping in mind long weekend and to reduce unnecessary waste of time ,instead of going to chandigarh and then get a bus to kullu, I suggest take a direct bus to manali from delhi and get down at Bhunter which is approx 2 hrs before manali,
Take a cab/sharing jeep from Bhuntar to kasol, and from there take a bus directly to brashani.
You will save a lot of time and money.( you save a day and a half)

2)rather than directly going to Kheerganga I suggest you stay for a night at either Kasol or Manikaran , this will help you to get slightly used to the condition before trecking to kheerganga,
Another option is a night at Kalga village which is 30 mins walk from brasheni.

3)well when it comes to sight seeing at kheerganga there is nothing touristy but it's overlapped with natures wonder and charm!!! Strongly recommend spending a night or two, you can get cheap accommodation in tined houses or you can stay inside the restaurant with no problem with food and shelter, can carry your own tent too, but it might get a little chilly by now so better to stay warm.

4) this is the best time weather patter is never certain thought mostly sky is clear with not a cloud around, night view of the sky is unbelievable from kheerganga

5) like I said earlier it is beginning of autumn so expect cool morning, pleasant day,and chilly nights, snow is good two months away.

6) it's very essential to carry good trekking shoe as parts of treck are steep and damp, carry dry fruits for quick energy, winter jacket and woolen socks will help.

7) you will need a average of 500 Rs per day per person at kheerganga.

7) I will be traveling with my wife to parvati on the 2nd October until 15th will be at kheerganga on the 4th or 5th see you around.

Hi Guys,
It seems many are heading to the parvati valley during this long stretch of holidays.

My suggestions would be :

1. Board a bus which is going to manali and get down at bhunter. From there you could take a direct bus to barshaini and head to tosh and night stay.

2. Next morning start the trek to khirganga, nightstay.

3. Enjoy the day at khirganga. Night stay.

4. Start trek back and go to kasol/manikaran and nightstay.

5. Explore these two places and board a bus to delhi in the night. Next day morning you are in delhi.
